Hornady is a Nebraska-based company that has been serving American gun owners since 1949. They began by creating rifle bullets for big game hunting cartridges but now create ammo for a wide range of uses.

These magnum 12 gauge shells from Hornady were made specifically for coyote hunting: a practice which not only nets warm meals and nice pelts but helps control the population of an invasive, potentially disease-spreading species while protecting smaller game targets for harvesting during the appropriate seasons. This shotshell's hull measures three inches in length and contains a powerful powder charge for increased effectiveness out to 50 yards. The shot load comprises 1-1/2 ounces of BB sized (.18 caliber) birdshot which offers devastating energy with minimal fur damage.

In addition, the shot has been nickel-plated which gives it extra hardness and ability to stay rounded during firing; this shrinks patterns, ensures performance at distance, and allows for deeper penetration into the vital organs inside the chest cavity. The shot resides within Hornady's Versatite wad (same design as Federal's Flitecontrol) which exits the muzzle with the shot before braking to the rear after a few feet, dramatically reducing pattern diameter for dense, hard-hitting effect. Hornady powers the shell with their own blend of clean-burning propellant which is ignited by a reliable 209 primer.
