22LR Ammo
.22 Long Rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting. Though not powerful enough for self-defense, it has helped many new shooters and CCW holders train in the fundamentals of firearm proficiency in part because you can fire bulk quantities at cheap prices.
.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.
Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

Manufacturer Federal Condition New Bullet Weight 36 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 5250 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 745 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 50029465057164 Cost Per Round 6.1¢ per round Grab this 5,250 round case of .22 LR ammunition for all your rimfire shooting needs--high volume target practice or mass varmint extermination. This ammo comes in 10 boxes containing 525 rounds each and delivers reliable performance at a very reasonable price.
Each cartridge in this case fires a 36-grain copper plated hollow point (CPHP) bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second. The hollow point expands and fragments for excellent lethality against squirrels, rabbits, nutria, and other pests. This is "high velocity" ammo that performs well in semi automatic pistols and rifles and maintains effectiveness at medium range. It can be fired through a suppressed firearm but will produce a loud boom or crack as it crosses the sound barrier, which somewhat reduces the suppressor's usefulness.
Champion ammo is intended to be both affordable and effective. It is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota by Federal Premium Ammunition, a division of the Vista Outdoor group.

Ok for rifle. Auto pistol is a disappointment.
-
Consistency from round to round will not make your automatic pistol cycle, correct. There are rounds under powered by 50%. It could be just the lot of ammunition that I have because I have never experienced this before from a federal product. I will not buy this blue box federal again I have also heard my contemporaries complain about Winchester white box. I will have to look into this further.

Very good ammo for a very good price
-
I've been very impressed over time with how consistent and accurate this stuff is. In two old target rifles, it's been as or more accurate than any mid- to high-grade match ammo I've tried. With one, an old Martini, if I do my part I've gotten sub-two inch groups at 100 yards on a good day.
Consistent, clean, and accurate.Review by Firehand (Posted on 10/28/2019)

Sure, not many impressive hunting trophies are owed to the diminutive cartridge’s work, and its practicality in warfare is going to remain moot until we’re invaded by 6” tall moon men. In spite of that, the sheer number of people who rely on the round for good old-fashioned recreational fun make it absolutely indispensable to the shooting world. It’s important that you always have enough of the go-to 22.
This ammo by Blazer will make sure you’ve got just what it takes to enjoy quality shooting all year round. This round’s rimfire primer and clean burning propellant will keep you active for longer in between cleanings, and its brass casing’s uniformity and concentric wall will prevent you from having to interrupt the action to clear a jam. The round’s relatively lighter bullet and fast muzzle velocity translate to great accuracy, and its soft bullet’s ability to deform during penetration suits it for plinking, target practice, and dropping pests alike. Aguila 22 LR 40 Grain CPRN – 250 Rounds
$19.85Manufacturer Aguila Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Round Nose (CPRN) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 250 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 1B221100 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 640420013114 Cost Per Round 7.9¢ per round This big range pack of 22 LR ammo by Aguila is the perfect way to enjoy any firearm at the range. Bolt-action rifle, or semi-auto like the AR-15 or 10/22? Buntline revolver or compact semi-auto? It’s still going to love burning through 250 rounds of Mexico’s finest just as much as you will!
This round’s 40 grain bullet pours out of a rifle’s muzzle at 1,255 fps – more than 100 fps faster than the speed of sound, and accordingly easier to aim thanks to its flat trajectory. The bullet does a great job of preventing residue from building up inside the barrel, as its copper plating prevents the lead in its core from gumming up the rifling. A round nose bullet like this may deform a little inside of soft tissue; not nearly as much as a hollow point, but we still wouldn’t want to be the squirrel who gets knocked in the ribs with a 40 grain CPRN traveling at 1,000 fps.
Aguila developed their own intensely reliable rimfire primer technology, making certain it would live up to even an Olympian’s expectations. Each round’s non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant complement its copper-plated bullet’s performance to keep fouling at an acceptable minimum.Customer Reviews

Flies like an eagle!

I discovered Aguila ammo a number of years ago. It is my go-to in .22LR, and its 9mm 124 gr offering is also tops. (The 9mm offering I've used has a mid-case crimp to prevent the bullets from moving under high recoil, a problem that can cause FTF and FTE.) I believe Aguila ammo is made at a former Remington facility in Mexico. Component quality is superb. This .22 is very reliable. I shoot it in several guns; works very well.

Federal Champion 22 LR 36 Grain LHP – 3250 Rounds

Federal Premium’s Champion label ammunition is built for all your target-shooting and varmint-banishing needs, and it’s made in America by ice-fishing, snowmobile-riding, hotdish-devouring Minnesotans!
Most 22 LR rounds have a 40 grain bullet, which makes this 36gr load just a little lighter than usual. You won’t notice increased recoil or barrel fouling when you fire this standard-pressure yet high-velocity ammunition. The lead hollow point bullet’s nose profile is arguably a little less aerodynamic than that of a lead round nose, but it’s well worth it if you’d like training ammo that you can also effectively use to take small game. The LHP has a little terminal expansion in store for its recipient!
This all-purpose range ammo features carefully standardized brass cases, noncorrosive rimfire primers and low-fouling propellant charges. Order your case of 10 boxes and you’ll soon realize the true meaning of “fast shipping.” -

A high muzzle velocity of 1,280 feet per second promotes reliable cycling in semiautomatic firearms and more reliable fragmentation against pest animals.

Federal Gold Medal Target 22 LR 40 Grain Lead Round Nose - 5000 Rounds

Federal crowns the load with a 40-grain lead round nose solid point bullet which follows suit with many available range, field, and match loads. The bullet's rounded head features a pristine curvature for smooth, reliable feeding resistance to drag-induced deviations while in flight.
Federal also equips the LRN projectile with a thick bourrelet which has greater surface area for barrel rifling to dig into; this imparts decisive stability on the round and helps tighten groups and yield single-ragged-hole performance. This case of 5000 rounds easily breaks down into 500-round bricks and 50-round boxes depending on your needs.

Blazer 22 LR 38 Grain LRN – 525 Rounds

They apply the same commitment to quality and affordability that they do to that to their brass cased rimfire products as well, so this big box of rounds presents exceptional value that you can enjoy all day long.
This cartridge sports a 38 grain projectile. Its bullet’s uniform weight distribution and round nose, as well as the supersonic muzzle velocity with which it starts its trip downrange, give it great accuracy. The bullet is made of lead not only in order to lower its cost, but because lead is a fine choice for varmint detail given its capacity to expand and tumble around in small game.
These rounds’ propellant burns clean, and their primers ignite clean -- you won’t have a great amount of residue gumming up your action for having fired a few of them. Blazer’s brass casings cycle effortlessly, letting you focus even better on your aim.Customer Reviews

This is considered to be in the "high velocity" category and offers strong fragmentation for quick elimination of pest animals. CCI Quiet 22 LR 40 Grain LRN - 5000 Rounds
$499.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Lead Round Nose (LRN) Use Type indoor range shooting, plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 5000 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 960 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 10076683009606 Cost Per Round 10¢ per round Do you live in a place where you could feasibly plink all day long, if only noise weren’t a concern? Have you got a rug rat who’s ready to start appreciating the shooting sports, but you don’t want to introduce them with a big, scary bang? Are you sick and tired of wearing ear protection when you shoot because it makes your head look funny? You don’t have to answer -- we can’t hear you from over here, anyway. But nonetheless, we believe you need this case of Quiet-22 ammo by CCI.
This 22 LR cartridge has got its caliber’s standard 40 grain LRN, but it only achieves a 710 muzzle velocity. Its report is 75 percent quieter than a comparable standard load, so it’s about as subtle as can be. Such a bullet is optimal for plinking, and ought to be sufficient for dealing with troubles of the rodent variety as well. A rat generally doesn’t care if the 40 grains that hit it are going supersonic or much slower. CCI’s brass casing is high quality enough to work in any sort of firearm, but you’d quickly find that this round’s power is insufficient to cycle a semi-automatic. -

Don’t settle for extra ammo, either. Insist on Aguila’s Super Extra line of ammunition whether you are clapping squirrels or having a dandy old time at the old shooting range!
This cartridge features the 22 LR’s most versatile projectile: the copper-plated hollow point. Its hard plating prevents rapid lead fouling of the bore, which in turn keeps a firearm shooting straighter, longer. Its nose cavity causes the bullet to flare outward as it penetrates soft tissue, making its terminal ballistics all the more deadly to the smallest of game. Aguila made this round’s bullet weigh 38 grains – not a colossal weight reduction, but still sufficient to boost its muzzle velocity somewhat.
This ammo’s consistent brass cases, non-corrosive primers, clean-burning propellant and supersonic muzzle velocity suit it well for any kind of firearm. $348.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 36 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type plinking at the range, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 3000 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 0962 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 10076683009620 Cost Per Round 11.6¢ per round We only sell this ammo to kings. You? You can order as many cases as you like.
CCI was founded in Idaho in 1951 and today stands as America’s most reputable manufacturer that specializes in rimfire-primed ammunition. Mini-Mag is CCI’s first and best-selling line of 22 LR. You’ll appreciate why before you’ve finished firing your first of ten 300-round boxes.
This round is loaded with the versatile copper-plated hollow point projectile. Its thin copper exterior enables the bullet to feed smoothly without the need for waxy lubricant, thus promoting cleaner performance in semi-automatic firearms. This is a high-velocity round thanks to its relatively lighter 36 grain projectile. Its 1,260 fps muzzle velocity will provide enough juice to reliably cycle a magazine-fed pistol or rifle. If the little hollow point lands on its target with enough momentum, it will widen out and kill the bejeezus out of a small game animal.
When you fire this ammo out of a rifle, its 0.125 G1 ballistic coefficient will prevent transonic destabilization until approximately 42 yards. Expect steady ballistic performance and consistent accuracy courtesy of CCI’s highly standardized primers and powder charges!Customer Reviews

Aguila Super Extra 22 LR 40 Grain CPRN - 50 Rounds
$5.85Manufacturer Aguila Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Round Nose (CPRN) Use Type plinking at the range, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 50 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 1B220328 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 640420001012 Cost Per Round 11.7¢ per round Aguila ammunition is manufactured in Mexico and has a reputation for cheap, quiet rimfire loads as well as high-performance ammo that can compete on an Olympic level. This is achieved via Aguila's "Prime" technology which ensures clean-burning propellent, deburred brass casings, and dependably igniting primers which all function at a consistent level in order to yield tight, uniform accuracy. At the top of each of these Super Extra .22 Long Rifle rounds rests a 40-grain copper-plated round nose (CPRN) projectile.
The 40-grain weight is a match for many other options in the caliber and is loaded to cycle semi-automatic rifles and pistols of all makes. A sleek, rounded nose grants the round smooth feeding while the copper plating helps to reduce lead fouling; this not only extends the optimal range of accuracy between cleanings but contributes less overall wear upon the firearm. In addition, these .22 LR bullets feature enlarged midsections which grab a greater area of rifling for incredible spin stability that helps to shrink group sizes.

CCI Mini-Mag 22 LR 36 Grain CPHP – 300 Rounds
$35.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 36 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type plinking at the range, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 300 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 962 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 076683009623 Cost Per Round 11.9¢ per round If we could only recommend one brand of 22 LR ammunition, it would probably have to be CCI. The Idahoan company has over seven decades’ experience making high-quality ammunition and ammo components, and their original Mini-Mag label is still their most popular.
Don’t let “Mini-Mag” trick you into thinking this is 22 WMR or some kind of strange 22 LR +P ammo. It’s loaded to produce a safe chamber pressure for any 22 LR firearm, regardless of its design or year of manufacture. Semi-automatic firearms especially like this ammo – not just because its copper-plated hollow point bullets minimize fouling and promote reliable feeding, but also because its 36 grain projectiles and 1,260 fps muzzle velocity mean that it should cycle any semi-auto just fine.
We love this ammo for regular plinking and serious target practice, but it’s a great choice for varmint hunting as well. Once the CPHP bullet’s nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue, it will undergo the quick terminal expansion that inflicts greater damage to a small quarry. Order a box of 300 rounds – you won’t regret it!Customer Reviews

CCI Clean-22 Realtree 22 LR 40 Grain LRN – 400 Rounds
$49.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Lead Round Nose (LRN) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 400 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 966CC Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No Cost Per Round 12.5¢ per round CCI of Idaho makes some of the finest 22 LR ammunition in the world. It doesn’t matter if you’re a rookie or an expert. It doesn’t matter what kind of firearm you’re using. If you want reliable, accurate performance, you only need to know three letters: C, C and I.
This Clean-22 cartridge has a very special 40 grain lead round nose bullet. It nearly eliminates lead fouling of the barrel courtesy of its thin polymer coating, and it can also reduce fouling of a suppressor by up to 80%. The polymer is highly resistant to heat, so it doesn’t leave behind any of its own residue that could gradually worsen accuracy. As a nice bonus, that polymer is also camo colors: black, brown and green!
This round’s non-corrosive primer and clean-burning powder work in tandem to deliver a supersonic muzzle velocity out of a rifle’s barrel. The sleek, ballistically efficient bullet does a great job of retaining superior downrange velocities, so you’re all set to do your fanciest shooting once you’ve got a 400-round jar of CCI’s high-velocity camo ammo! -

Then order this box of 100 .22 Long Rifle ammunition and you’ll be all set for a full day of hunting or varmint control. These 36-grain hollow point rounds deliver the speed, power, and ballistics you need, and the Mini-Mag hollow point bullet is a top design for varmint hunting.
These bullets come out of the muzzle with an initial velocity of 1,260 feet per second and an energy of 126 foot pounds. They maintain excellent speed, even at a distance, with a velocity that only drops to 1,003 feet per second once they reach 100 yards. If sighted to 75 yards, they only drop 3.2 inches at 100 yards. Thanks to CCI’s excellent design and superior primers and cases, these bullets feed smoothly and give you consistent, accurate shots.
CCI is one of the top names in the world of ammunition. They have leading designs for rimfire cartridges and deliver superior rounds for target shooting, hunting, and varmint control.

Browning PRO22 22 LR 40 Grain LRN – 100 Rounds
$13.85Manufacturer Browning Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Lead Round Nose (LRN) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 100 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU B194122101 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 020892104730 Cost Per Round 13.9¢ per round PRO22 series ammunition is Browning’s way of giving precision 22 LR shooters the stuff they need to do their very best work.
This cartridge’s 1,085 fps muzzle velocity out of a rifle’s barrel means it will produce a quiet report – but that’s just the lesser advantage of firing subsonic ammo. A bullet which never becomes supersonic necessarily cannot become transonic as its velocity dips beneath 1,125 fps. Because a bullet loses some of its stability when it goes transonic, its trajectory becomes less predictable as the result. But a PRO22 load completely dodges this problem!
This cartridge’s lead round nose projectile has a more ballistically efficient profile than an hollow point, and Browning’s clean-burning powder cuts down on the fouling which makes rifling increasingly less effective. This ammo also promotes undeviating alignment with the rifling courtesy of its crimped case heads, which prevent its bullets from getting jerked out of their factory seating depth under recoil. -

CCI Stinger 22 LR 32 Grain CPHP – 500 Rounds
$99.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 32 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type plinking at the range, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 500 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 50 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 076683500502 Cost Per Round 20¢ per round Affordability, low recoil, and a soft report -- the 22 LR already had its fair share of blessings before CCI laid their hands on it. But by increasing its muzzle velocity to a staggering rate of 1,640 fps, they gave it a trajectory so flat that even a spirit level wouldn’t do it justice. This 22 LR cartridge from the Stinger line of ammunition boasts accuracy so exceptional that squirrels and other vermin are lucky their brains aren’t big enough to permit them to comprehend just what they’re up against.
This round’s 32 grain bullet features a copper plating, so it will save your weapon’s bore from becoming rapidly fouled with lead residue, even further enhancing its accuracy. The bullet’s teardrop cavity further ensures the kind of expanding terminal performance you need to send critters packing. Add in a sure-fire rimfire primed brass casing, and you’ve got the just stuff you need to make that little rifle pack a serious punch.Customer Reviews

CCI Stinger 22 LR 32 Grain CPHP – 50 Rounds
$14.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 32 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type varmint hunting Casing Type Nickel-Plated Brass Quantity 50 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 50 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 076683000507 Cost Per Round 29.7¢ per round Do you love bees? Then you’re certain to love this box of CCI Stinger 22 LR ammunition, which has a little picture of a bee right on its packaging. But if you just love high-quality and super-accurate 22 LR hunting ammo, then you’ll be equally satisfied by Idaho’s best!
A CCI Stinger round puts all its chips on velocity. Its 32 grain bullet is 20% lighter than average. Its resultant low inertia means that it hits a scorching fast 1,640 fps muzzle velocity. The bullet’s trajectory is flat as a fritter (0.084 G1 BC), and it stays supersonic until about 85 yards.
This hyper-velocity cartridge’s bullet is a copper-plated hollow point. It minimizes barrel fouling and spells certain death to any varmint that experiences its fast terminal expansion firsthand. This ammo’s brass cases are nickel-plated to ensure smoother feeding and extraction in semi-auto firearms, and CCI’s rimfire primers are supremely reliable. -
CCI 22 LR 31 Grain #12 Shot – 200 Rounds
$99.85Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 31 Grain Bullet Type #12 Shot Use Type varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 200 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 39 Shot Material Lead Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 076683500397 Cost Per Round 49.9¢ per round #12 shot hasn’t got the widest variety of applications. If you manage to take a tom turkey with it, then you deserve a Nobel prize for hunting (if in fact the Nobel Committee awards a prize in that category). No, what the .05” diameter pellets excel at, and are only good for, is taking out nearby varmints like rats and house mice. But who wants to carry around a shotgun just in case they cross paths with a rodent?
With this 22 LR shell by CCI, you’ll be ready for a spontaneous rat encounter so long as you’re carrying a small pistol. This round’s 31 grain load of #12 shot tears out of the muzzle at a subsonic speed of 1,000 fps, so it has got the range, spread, and power you need to prematurely end any pest’s cheese pilfering days.
Some 22 LR shells have crimped ends to hold in their shot, but we’ve found that they can present problems extracting on occasion. We personally prefer this round’s plastic tip, which doesn’t require the rim of the brass casing to change upon ignition. CCI’s responsive primer and consistent propellant charge promote reliable performance, but take caution that this round isn't intended to cycle a semi-automatic.
