22LR Ammo

.22 Long Rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting. Though not powerful enough for self-defense, it has helped many new shooters and CCW holders train in the fundamentals of firearm proficiency in part because you can fire bulk quantities at cheap prices.

.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.

Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

Forget everything you know about 22 LR ammunition! Actually, don’t do that, or else you’ll have no idea what we’re talking about. Just make sure you know this: 22 Thunderbolt isn’t just Remington’s most popular brand of 22 LR ammo. It is their most popular brand of ammo – period!

This ammo doesn’t do anything particularly special, but that just means it’s able to do it all! If you’re looking for the flat trajectory that simplifies aiming, then you’ll love this round’s high-velocity 40 grain projectile. Upon rocketing out of a rifle barrel at a rate of 1,255 fps, it’s due to reach 100 yards without having to rise higher than 3” above the bore line (that’s assuming you’re aiming through 1.5” high sights). And if you’re just looking for an economical solution to all-day plinking, then you’ll appreciate the LRN’s simple, cost-effective design. No copper plating. No nose cavity. Just an aerodynamic hunk of lead that screams from A to B without uncertainty.

This case contains one dozen boxes of loose-packed rimfire ammo. Each round is manufactured in Arkansas, which produces much, much better ammunition than it does presidents!

Do you love 22 LR ammo? How would you like to have 2,000 rounds of 22 LR ammo – and good 22 LR ammo at that! This giant slab of rimfire ammunition comes four loose-packed boxes to a case, and it’s just the ticket for target practice, plinking, hunting and prepping alike!

This round’s bullet weighs just a little bit light at 38 grains. Its clean-burning propellant generates sufficient chamber pressure to cycle a semi-automatic and goes on to produce a high 1,280 fps muzzle velocity (out of a long gun’s barrel – but you can use a pistol if you prefer). The CPHP does just fine in the accuracy department, thanks in part to its copper shell which promotes cleaner performance. And once it clobbers a varmint, the CPHP’s nose cavity will kick into gear to deliver some deadly terminal expansion.

When Aguila isn’t supplying to Mexico’s military and law enforcement agencies, they’re making some of the world’s very best rimfire primed ammo. These non-corrosive rounds are loaded with uniform brass cases – straight walls, concentric rims, and mouths that seat bullets nice and evenly.

You’ve finally found it – the 22 LR motherlode! Federal Premium’s Champion label ammunition is built for all your target-shooting and varmint-banishing needs, and it’s made in America by ice-fishing, snowmobile-riding, hotdish-devouring Minnesotans!

Most 22 LR rounds have a 40 grain bullet, which makes this 36gr load just a little lighter than usual. You won’t notice increased recoil or barrel fouling when you fire this standard-pressure yet high-velocity ammunition. The lead hollow point bullet’s nose profile is arguably a little less aerodynamic than that of a lead round nose, but it’s well worth it if you’d like training ammo that you can also effectively use to take small game. The LHP has a little terminal expansion in store for its recipient!

This all-purpose range ammo features carefully standardized brass cases, noncorrosive rimfire primers and low-fouling propellant charges. Order your case of 10 boxes and you’ll soon realize the true meaning of “fast shipping.”

Just because you're trying to bulk up on some .22 LR ammo doesn't mean you have to settle for cheap, garden variety rounds. These AutoMatch cartridges from Federal aim to supply shooters with match grade rimfire fun in mass quantities. That makes this 3,250 round bulk pack, consisting of ten separate 325 round bricks, ideal of long-term plinking storage, precision sight zeroing, competitive match use, and Appleseed event sponsorship. Federal Premium is an American company with a huge reputation for innovation across hunting, sporting, and defensive sections of ammunition. Their quality and consistency has been trusted for years by the U.S. public.

This .22 LR rounds use typical brass casings and lead round nose (LRN) bullets which can have an accuracy-increasing effect on match grade barrels after repeated use and minimal cleaning. The projectiles weigh in at 40 grains which is a typical heavy weight bullet used for matches due to its potential to reach farther distances and maintain a flatter relative trajectory after leaving the muzzle at 1,200 feet-per-second. Federal takes special measures to make sure that these rounds will cycle semi-automatic rifles and pistols like the Ruger 10/22 or Charger reliably.

    Not target grade

They shoot fairly well but are not target (match) grade. Good for general shooting.

Some ammo is good for defending your family. Some ammo is good for feeding your family. But Remington 22 Thunderbolt 22 LR ammunition? It’s good for the most important thing in the world: having a grand old time at the range!

This isn’t fancy ammo! It’s loaded with the 22 LR’s classic, tried and universally trusted 40 grain lead round nose projectile. The LRN’s sloping meplat promotes reliable feeding into any firearm’s chamber. Its high 1,255 muzzle velocity creates enough chamber pressure to cycle a semi-auto, and also gives the bullet enough momentum to follow a plenty flat trajectory toward its target. And while the LRN isn’t necessarily the most effective choice for varmint hunting (given its inability to undergo expansion), its 120 ft lbs striking energy at 25 yards still makes it powerful enough to knock any crow off its perch.

This target ammo features all of Remington’s expert touches, including straight and strong brass cases and low-fouling explosive components. Order today and we'll ship it to you surprisingly fast!

A real firearm enthusiast doesn’t get out of bed for anything less than 2,000 rounds of 22 LR ammunition. That’s what they need to really get into the swing of things at the plinking range, and that’s why we piled up a truckload of Aguila Super Extra ammo in our warehouse!

This round features the tried and true 40 grain lead round nose – the 22 LR’s vanilla bullet. Smooth feeding, consistent target-grade accuracy, and enough juice downrange to dispatch garden-variety varmints are all yours to enjoy when you fire such a bullet. This round’s 1,130 fps muzzle velocity gives that aerodynamic lead missile enough pepper to reach 100 yards at a velocity over 980 fps.

Aguila loads good brass cases, with the straight walls, concentric rims and smooth exteriors any firearm needs to function like clockwork. Aguila’s rimfire primers are especially reliable, as well as non-corrosive to keep your pistol or rifle in better shape until it’s time to go home.

Life is too short to go without a constant supply of 22 LR range, target and plinking ammunition! If you want to enjoy a happy existence on this beautiful blue-and-green marble we call planet Earth, then you had better order yourself a sweet 2,000-round case of rimfire ammo by Aguila – Mexico’s preeminent rimfire ammo authority!

The copper-plated round nose bullet isn’t ideal for hunting, as it cannot exhibit terminal expansion. (It’ll still hit a squirrel hard enough to send it tumbling from the treetops, of course.) The CPRN’s thin shell of copper plating will help it feed more smoothly into any firearm’s waiting chamber, however, and it also wards off the rapid lead fouling which gradually chips away at accuracy.

This is high-velocity ammo – supersonic, with a 1,255 fps muzzle velocity that keeps the bullet flying faster than the speed of sound until around 52 yards. The 40 grain projectile can be trusted to cycle a semi-automatic fully and freely, but it’s just as fit for action in any other type of firearm you’re itching to fire.

Shiny new brass cases? Clean-burning powder? Noncorrosive primers? The gang’s all here! Order today and prepare to wonder what kind of black magic we’re using to ship so quickly.
  10. Federal Champion 22 LR 36 Grain CPHP - 5250 Rounds

    UPC Barcode 50029465057164
Cost Per Round 6.7¢ per round

Grab this 5,250 round case of .22 LR ammunition for all your rimfire shooting needs--high volume target practice or mass varmint extermination. This ammo comes in 10 boxes containing 525 rounds each and delivers reliable performance at a very reasonable price.

Each cartridge in this case fires a 36-grain copper plated hollow point (CPHP) bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second. The hollow point expands and fragments for excellent lethality against squirrels, rabbits, nutria, and other pests. This is "high velocity" ammo that performs well in semi automatic pistols and rifles and maintains effectiveness at medium range. It can be fired through a suppressed firearm but will produce a loud boom or crack as it crosses the sound barrier, which somewhat reduces the suppressor's usefulness.

Champion ammo is intended to be both affordable and effective. It is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota by Federal Premium Ammunition, a division of the Vista Outdoor group.

    Customer Reviews

Ok for rifle. Auto pistol is a disappointment.

Consistency from round to round will not make your automatic pistol cycle, correct. There are rounds under powered by 50%. It could be just the lot of ammunition that I have because I have never experienced this before from a federal product. I will not buy this blue box federal again I have also heard my contemporaries complain about Winchester white box. I will have to look into this further.

Review by Sharpshooter (Posted on 3/22/2023)

Very good ammo for a very good price

I've been very impressed over time with how consistent and accurate this stuff is. In two old target rifles, it's been as or more accurate than any mid- to high-grade match ammo I've tried. With one, an old Martini, if I do my part I've gotten sub-two inch groups at 100 yards on a good day.

    Consistent, clean, and accurate.

The 22 LR is a very important caliber. Sure, not many impressive hunting trophies are owed to the diminutive cartridge’s work, and its practicality in warfare is going to remain moot until we’re invaded by 6” tall moon men. In spite of that, the sheer number of people who rely on the round for good old-fashioned recreational fun make it absolutely indispensable to the shooting world. It’s important that you always have enough of the go-to 22.

This ammo by Blazer will make sure you’ve got just what it takes to enjoy quality shooting all year round. This round’s rimfire primer and clean burning propellant will keep you active for longer in between cleanings, and its brass casing’s uniformity and concentric wall will prevent you from having to interrupt the action to clear a jam. The round’s relatively lighter bullet and fast muzzle velocity translate to great accuracy, and its soft bullet’s ability to deform during penetration suits it for plinking, target practice, and dropping pests alike. Aguila loads this round with a little extra juice. Its non-corrosive primer and clean-burning powder work in tandem to push the 40 grain projectile out of a rifle barrel at a velocity of 1,255 fps. A supersonic crack will fill the air as the bullet streaks downrange along a straight path. The CPRN’s copper plating does a good job of keeping lead residue from accumulating on a bore’s lands and grooves, so you’ll preserve the accuracy you need to land bullseyes or brain red squirrels for hours on end.

Aguila manufactures shotshells and Mexico’s military ammo as well, but they’ll always be best known as one of North America’s leading rimfire authorities. Their Aguila Prime technology produces primers that even satisfy Olympic shooters’ exacting criteria!

If you could only buy one kind of 22 LR ammunition – just one – then you couldn’t go wrong with Aguila Super Extra. This cartridge wears three hats: a target shooting hat because it is great for target shooting, a varmint hunting hat because it is great for varmint hunting, and a sombrero because it’s hecho en México!

This round’s bullet is a little on the lighter side at 38 grains. That’s how it manages to achieve a lickety-split 1,280 fps muzzle velocity while simultaneously producing sufficient chamber pressure to cycle a semi-automatic. The copper-plated bullet minimizes lead fouling, and its nose cavity produces the terminal expansion you need when you really want to put the hurting to small game.

Aguila’s Olympic-quality rimfire primers supply reliable ignition in firearms of all makes and models, and their uniform brass cases see to smooth feeding and extraction as well. You get forty 50-round boxes to a case of 2,000, which means you could share if you wanted to – but you won’t!

    Customer Reviews

Only downside is that it is dirty

Other than the fact that Remington Thunderbolt 22 LR rimfire ammo is the dirtiest ammo I've fired in my High Standard Sentinel Deluxe .22 revolver, it is good stuff. Why? Because it fits nicely into the cylinder, doesn't snag when I eject them, it's quite accurate up to the 25 yard distance that I've shot it, and it is the best smelling powder that I've shot in a long time (it reminds me of gunpowder from sixty years ago). So, other than being (honestly) 4-5 times dirtier than the three other brands of .22 ammo that I've shot in the recent past (and by the way those other brands have made many different problems for my revolver and have failed to fire far too often), it is really good ammo.

Each cartridge in this pack fires a light 36-grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second. This is considered to be in the "high velocity" category and offers strong fragmentation for quick elimination of pest animals. While this ammo will produce a "crack" as it crosses the sound barrier, it will still benefit somewhat from the noise reduction properties of a suppressor. The bullet is copper plated for reduced fouling compared to bare lead projectiles.

Champion ammo is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota by Federal Premium Ammunition. Federal is a division of the Vista Outdoor group, which also includes Speer, Estate, CCI, and many other notable shooting brands.

We’re sure you’ll have no trouble figuring out what to do with over half a thousand rounds of 22 LR ammunition. You’ve got bottles to blast, cans to cancel, and varmints to veto. You just need a little help getting said ammo, but that’s easy – we want to send it to your doorstep.

This 22 LR cartridge by Winchester features the ever so versatile 36 grain copper plated hollow point. At that weight it treats a rifle to a supersonic muzzle velocity, but this ammo’s just as suitable for handguns including semi-automatics. That copper plating isn’t just pretty to look at – it prevents rapid bore fouling so you can enjoy greater accuracy and less cleaning. The bullet’s hollow point unleashes rapid terminal expansion within small game to kill it deader, faster, but it’s no great crime to fire CPHP bullets during a relaxed plinking day, either.

American brass, primers and propellant add up to smooth performance however you slice it. Order this 3 lb, 12 oz box of ammo and you’ll be able to do your best work soon!

    Well worth the money.

Bought it for the wife's and step-daughters Ruger Mark 3's. Cycled nicely and the reduced recoil (I'm afraid to shoot it!) helped them with their aiming and trigger control. For the family bonding aspect...well worth the money.

Federal’s considerable experience is also apparent in this round’s non-corrosive rimfire primer, as well as its propellant which is formulated to leave behind as little residue as possible. Very accurate

With my Marlin which is far more accurate than my ruger 10/22. Due to standard heavy barrel and 12 microgrove rifling at about 40 yards this CCI standard velocity rounds were basically trying to go through the same hole. Left a hole about the size of a .30 cal with about 8 rnds. Very surprised as the standard cheap. 22 rds aren't as consistent or accurate. These are subsonic so more accurate than high velocity.

Shot the NRA Marksmanship Program (Rimfire/bench) thru Distinguished Expert with this ammo. Consistent 1 MOA 5 shot groups with a Ruger Precision Rimfire rifle.

This .22 Long Rifle ammo from Federal's Game-Shok series is a dependable, clean-shooting choice for both target shooting and small game hunting. These cartridges can be used in both manual and semi-automatic pistols and rifles.

Each cartridge in this 500 round "brick" fires a 40-grain copper plated solid bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,240 feet per second. This is "high velocity" ammo which produces good medium-range performance and terminal ballistics. This ammo can be fired through a suppressor to reduce the muzzle report somewhat but will generate some unavoidable noise as the bullet crosses the sound barrier. Against game, this ammo requires more careful shot placement than hollow point loads but is less destructive--a useful property for meat hunters.

Federal Game Shok ammo is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota. Federal is a division of Vista Outdoor, which produces a wide variety of products related to hunting, sport shooting, and defense.

Do you live in a place where you could feasibly plink all day long, if only noise weren’t a concern? Have you got a rug rat who’s ready to start appreciating the shooting sports, but you don’t want to introduce them with a big, scary bang? Are you sick and tired of wearing ear protection when you shoot because it makes your head look funny? You don’t have to answer -- we can’t hear you from over here, anyway. But nonetheless, we believe you need this case of Quiet-22 ammo by CCI.

This 22 LR cartridge has got its caliber’s standard 40 grain LRN, but it only achieves a 710 muzzle velocity. Its report is 75 percent quieter than a comparable standard load, so it’s about as subtle as can be. Such a bullet is optimal for plinking, and ought to be sufficient for dealing with troubles of the rodent variety as well. A rat generally doesn’t care if the 40 grains that hit it are going supersonic or much slower. CCI’s brass casing is high quality enough to work in any sort of firearm, but you’d quickly find that this round’s power is insufficient to cycle a semi-automatic.

Don’t settle for super ammo. Don’t settle for extra ammo, either. Insist on Aguila’s Super Extra line of ammunition whether you are clapping squirrels or having a dandy old time at the old shooting range!

This cartridge features the 22 LR’s most versatile projectile: the copper-plated hollow point. Its hard plating prevents rapid lead fouling of the bore, which in turn keeps a firearm shooting straighter, longer. Its nose cavity causes the bullet to flare outward as it penetrates soft tissue, making its terminal ballistics all the more deadly to the smallest of game. Aguila made this round’s bullet weigh 38 grains – not a colossal weight reduction, but still sufficient to boost its muzzle velocity somewhat.

This ammo’s consistent brass cases, non-corrosive primers, clean-burning propellant and supersonic muzzle velocity suit it well for any kind of firearm. Whether you’ve got an AR-15, a semi-automatic pistol, a bolt-action rifle, or any other kind of shooting contraption, Aguila’s got what it needs right here.

We only sell this ammo to kings. You? You can order as many cases as you like.

CCI was founded in Idaho in 1951 and today stands as America’s most reputable manufacturer that specializes in rimfire-primed ammunition. Mini-Mag is CCI’s first and best-selling line of 22 LR. You’ll appreciate why before you’ve finished firing your first of ten 300-round boxes.

This round is loaded with the versatile copper-plated hollow point projectile. Its thin copper exterior enables the bullet to feed smoothly without the need for waxy lubricant, thus promoting cleaner performance in semi-automatic firearms. This is a high-velocity round thanks to its relatively lighter 36 grain projectile. Its 1,260 fps muzzle velocity will provide enough juice to reliably cycle a magazine-fed pistol or rifle. If the little hollow point lands on its target with enough momentum, it will widen out and kill the bejeezus out of a small game animal.

When you fire this ammo out of a rifle, its 0.125 G1 ballistic coefficient will prevent transonic destabilization until approximately 42 yards. Expect steady ballistic performance and consistent accuracy courtesy of CCI’s highly standardized primers and powder charges!

Aguila ammunition is manufactured in Mexico and has a reputation for cheap, quiet rimfire loads as well as high-performance ammo that can compete on an Olympic level. This is achieved via Aguila's "Prime" technology which ensures clean-burning propellent, deburred brass casings, and dependably igniting primers which all function at a consistent level in order to yield tight, uniform accuracy. At the top of each of these Super Extra .22 Long Rifle rounds rests a 40-grain copper-plated round nose (CPRN) projectile.

The 40-grain weight is a match for many other options in the caliber and is loaded to cycle semi-automatic rifles and pistols of all makes. A sleek, rounded nose grants the round smooth feeding while the copper plating helps to reduce lead fouling; this not only extends the optimal range of accuracy between cleanings but contributes less overall wear upon the firearm. In addition, these .22 LR bullets feature enlarged midsections which grab a greater area of rifling for incredible spin stability that helps to shrink group sizes.

If we could only recommend one brand of 22 LR ammunition, it would probably have to be CCI. The Idahoan company has over seven decades’ experience making high-quality ammunition and ammo components, and their original Mini-Mag label is still their most popular.

Don’t let “Mini-Mag” trick you into thinking this is 22 WMR or some kind of strange 22 LR +P ammo. It’s loaded to produce a safe chamber pressure for any 22 LR firearm, regardless of its design or year of manufacture. Semi-automatic firearms especially like this ammo – not just because its copper-plated hollow point bullets minimize fouling and promote reliable feeding, but also because its 36 grain projectiles and 1,260 fps muzzle velocity mean that it should cycle any semi-auto just fine.

We love this ammo for regular plinking and serious target practice, but it’s a great choice for varmint hunting as well. Once the CPHP bullet’s nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue, it will undergo the quick terminal expansion that inflicts greater damage to a small quarry. Order a box of 300 rounds – you won’t regret it!

Providing hard to find ammo in a friendly and expedited manner.

This quiet ammo is difficult to find. We received a limited volume and at a fair price. Even the shipping was pleasantly quick. Good products, good service and good people to do business with!

Great ammo for low noise plinking

We use this ammo to target shoot in the back yard without freaking out the neighbors. It won't cycle semi autos but it works great in bolt actions.

Review by Jerry S. (Posted on 6/1/2020)

    Great stuff

This ammo surprised me by how quiete it really was, infact when shooting steel the impact is louder than the gun going off. it is very accurate as well however does not cycle in a semi auto

Review by Tone (Posted on 4/27/2020)

    VERY quiet and accurate

these are more quiet than any other available 22 rimfire ammo, less noise than some pellet rifles. as accurate as any match ammo inside 25 yards. NOT sufficiently deadly for backyard pests UNLESS you get this same product that is pre-segmented to break into three pieces on impact. If you have that you can engage in pest removal even when the neighbors are close next door. This ammo is more accurate than all but high end rimfire match rifles.

PRO22 series ammunition is Browning’s way of giving precision 22 LR shooters the stuff they need to do their very best work.

This cartridge’s 1,085 fps muzzle velocity out of a rifle’s barrel means it will produce a quiet report – but that’s just the lesser advantage of firing subsonic ammo. A bullet which never becomes supersonic necessarily cannot become transonic as its velocity dips beneath 1,125 fps. Because a bullet loses some of its stability when it goes transonic, its trajectory becomes less predictable as the result. But a PRO22 load completely dodges this problem!

This cartridge’s lead round nose projectile has a more ballistically efficient profile than an hollow point, and Browning’s clean-burning powder cuts down on the fouling which makes rifling increasingly less effective. This ammo also promotes undeviating alignment with the rifling courtesy of its crimped case heads, which prevent its bullets from getting jerked out of their factory seating depth under recoil.
