22LR Ammo

.22 Long Rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting. Though not powerful enough for self-defense, it has helped many new shooters and CCW holders train in the fundamentals of firearm proficiency in part because you can fire bulk quantities at cheap prices.

.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.

Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

The 22 LR is a very important caliber. Sure, not many impressive hunting trophies are owed to the diminutive cartridge’s work, and its practicality in warfare is going to remain moot until we’re invaded by 6” tall moon men. In spite of that, the sheer number of people who rely on the round for good old-fashioned recreational fun make it absolutely indispensable to the shooting world. It’s important that you always have enough of the go-to 22.

This ammo by Blazer will make sure you’ve got just what it takes to enjoy quality shooting all year round. This round’s rimfire primer and clean burning propellant will keep you active for longer in between cleanings, and its brass casing’s uniformity and concentric wall will prevent you from having to interrupt the action to clear a jam. The round’s relatively lighter bullet and fast muzzle velocity translate to great accuracy, and its soft bullet’s ability to deform during penetration suits it for plinking, target practice, and dropping pests alike. This 22 LR cartridge from Winchester’s Wildcat line of ammunition features a 40 grain projectile, the caliber’s original bullet weight which provides a good balance of power and manageable recoil. This bullet is made of lead, so it is not only economical but also deforms and tumbles somewhat as it penetrates a soft target. While it won’t offer terminal performance like a hollow point’s, it’s still a viable option for taking small game and other pests. The bullet’s round nose profile offers the middle ground for impact energy and penetration, so you’ll have little issue perforating the old cans which are present during any decent plinking session.

Winchester’s name is synonymous with good quality, which this little round has in spades. Its rimfire primer is non-corrosive and suitable for long-term storage, its brass casing won’t tarnish with time, and its propellant load is weighted perfectly to provide ideal performance for its caliber. This round works exceptionally well in semi-automatic weapons, making it a versatile choice no matter how you’d implement it!

CCI ammunition has been manufactured in Lewiston, Idaho since the 1950s; the company is a division of Vista Outdoor, which also owns Speer, Federal, and many other notable shooting brands.

There are plenty of ways to reduce the amount of property damage you incur on the account of squirrels. Chemical treatments work well, and a diligent kitty cat won’t stand the sight of squirrels dancing around your front yard. For our money, though, no solution is as satisfying as the 22 LR. That’s why we offer this Xpert round by Winchester.

This cartridge has great accuracy, so it’s perfect for hitting small targets, be they rodential or otherwise. It does this in part thanks to its lighter bullet which conveys a faster muzzle velocity. This round’s extra oomph will also help your semi-automatic cycle more reliably as well.

This cartridge’s lead bullet sports a deep hollow point nose cavity. That means you’ll have the expanding terminal performance you need to drop even the beefiest squirrel -- you know, like one that has been hitting the gym regularly. Its exceptional price tag means you can use this versatile little round however you please, though, making a whole case of them a perfect thing to have ready.

This 22 LR cartridge is made by Blazer, the Idahoan manufacturer whose primary claim to fame is their fine aluminum cased centerfire ammunition. They apply the same commitment to quality and affordability that they do to that to their brass cased rimfire products as well, so this big box of rounds presents exceptional value that you can enjoy all day long.

This cartridge sports a 38 grain projectile. Its bullet’s uniform weight distribution and round nose, as well as the supersonic muzzle velocity with which it starts its trip downrange, give it great accuracy. The bullet is made of lead not only in order to lower its cost, but because lead is a fine choice for varmint detail given its capacity to expand and tumble around in small game.

These rounds’ propellant burns clean, and their primers ignite clean -- you won’t have a great amount of residue gumming up your action for having fired a few of them. Blazer’s brass casings cycle effortlessly, letting you focus even better on your aim.

Grab this 5,250 round case of .22 LR ammunition for all your rimfire shooting needs--high volume target practice or mass varmint extermination. This ammo comes in 10 boxes containing 525 rounds each and delivers reliable performance at a very reasonable price.

Each cartridge in this case fires a 36-grain copper plated hollow point (CPHP) bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second. The hollow point expands and fragments for excellent lethality against squirrels, rabbits, nutria, and other pests. This is "high velocity" ammo that performs well in semi automatic pistols and rifles and maintains effectiveness at medium range. It can be fired through a suppressed firearm but will produce a loud boom or crack as it crosses the sound barrier, which somewhat reduces the suppressor's usefulness.

Champion ammo is intended to be both affordable and effective. It is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota by Federal Premium Ammunition, a division of the Vista Outdoor group.

Very good ammo for a very good price

I've been very impressed over time with how consistent and accurate this stuff is. In two old target rifles, it's been as or more accurate than any mid- to high-grade match ammo I've tried. With one, an old Martini, if I do my part I've gotten sub-two inch groups at 100 yards on a good day.

    Consistent, clean, and accurate.

The low recoil, relatively quiet report, and tremendous affordability of the 22 LR has made it the most fired cartridge in the world. Had the men at J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company known just how popular their round would become when they first introduced it in 1887, they’d surely have felt honored.

Keep their pride alive by investing in these 500 22 LR rounds from Winchester’s Wildcat line of ammunition. They sport 40 grain projectiles, the original bullet weight for their caliber, and because their bullets are made from lead they’re exceptionally affordable. These bullets’ round nose profile let them deliver decent impact energy without substantially lessening their ability to penetrate plinking targets, and because they’re soft they’ll deform within soft targets during penetration, making them bonafide squirrel killers. These rounds’ brass casings feature non-corrosive rimfire primers, so they will keep your bore and action safe from caustic residues and are fit to sit on your shelf for a long time as well.

    Well worth the money.

Bought it for the wife's and step-daughters Ruger Mark 3's. Cycled nicely and the reduced recoil (I'm afraid to shoot it!) helped them with their aiming and trigger control. For the family bonding aspect...well worth the money.

It’s funny how the 22 LR, a cartridge that’s indisputably inappropriate for self-defense or hunting any sort of animal that’d make for a sizeable family dinner, has become the most popular in the world. We’d venture it’s its subtle report, negligible recoil, low cost, and overall enjoyability that have made it that way. If you’re as big a fan of the caliber as seemingly every other shooter on earth is, then you’ll be very happy to have this mountainous case of Remington Golden Bullet ammo tucked away in your home.

This cartridge’s 40 grain projectile is a CPRN. The copper, which gives the “Golden Bullet” its attractive color, does a splendid job of lessening the kind of fouling that would have quickly impacted a firearm’s accuracy. Its an exceptionally aerodynamic bullet which has no difficulty burrowing through light targets as well. For just how little these rounds cost, you’ll be able to shoot exactly as much as you’d care to -- all day if you’d like.

Do you live in a place where you could feasibly plink all day long, if only noise weren’t a concern? Have you got a rug rat who’s ready to start appreciating the shooting sports, but you don’t want to introduce them with a big, scary bang? Are you sick and tired of wearing ear protection when you shoot because it makes your head look funny? You don’t have to answer -- we can’t hear you from over here, anyway. But nonetheless, we believe you need this case of Quiet-22 ammo by CCI.

This 22 LR cartridge has got its caliber’s standard 40 grain LRN, but it only achieves a 710 muzzle velocity. Its report is 75 percent quieter than a comparable standard load, so it’s about as subtle as can be. Such a bullet is optimal for plinking, and ought to be sufficient for dealing with troubles of the rodent variety as well. A rat generally doesn’t care if the 40 grains that hit it are going supersonic or much slower. CCI’s brass casing is high quality enough to work in any sort of firearm, but you’d quickly find that this round’s power is insufficient to cycle a semi-automatic.

This is a versatile 22 LR cartridge from Federal’s Game-Shok line of ammunition. Its 40 grain projectile is plated with copper, so it will protect your weapon’s bore from quickly leading over the course of an extended target shooting session. As a round nose projectile, the bullet doesn’t offer expanding terminal performance -- still, such a profile provides the straight flight and impact energy you need to drop little critters from afar, and that the lead in the bullet’s core is mostly protected by copper plating means you can eat your quarry after the fact with little concern for lead contamination.

The profile of this round’s bullet, coupled with Federal’s own exactly drawn brass casing, ensures it will cycle soundly through bolt action and semi-automatic alike. Federal’s considerable experience is also apparent in this round’s non-corrosive rimfire primer, as well as its propellant which is formulated to leave behind as little residue as possible. With 5,000 of these accurate and deadly little numbers, what you’ll be able to do with your 22 will be limited only by your imagination.

Each cartridge in this case fires a 38-grain projectile at a muzzle velocity of 1,260 feet per second. This is "high velocity" ammo that functions well in semi-automatic handguns and rifles. While the supersonic velocity somewhat reduces the benefits of a suppressor, it also improves terminal performance at extended ranges by promoting faster fragmentation upon contact with the animal. The bullet is copper plated to reduce fouling and lead exposure risk.

    VERY quiet and accurate

these are more quiet than any other available 22 rimfire ammo, less noise than some pellet rifles. as accurate as any match ammo inside 25 yards. NOT sufficiently deadly for backyard pests UNLESS you get this same product that is pre-segmented to break into three pieces on impact. If you have that you can engage in pest removal even when the neighbors are close next door. This ammo is more accurate than all but high end rimfire match rifles.

    Great Ammo

This is my favorite ammo for my .22's. I started using it many years ago and have never had a misfire or a jam in any of my .22's.
I've eaten a lot of squirrel using this ammo and highly recommend it for the range and for hunting.

    Range & Plinking

I haven't done much small game & varmint hunting lately, but continue to spend time at the range and plinking out away from town. The Golden Bullet has never given me any problems and I appreciate its general online availability through Widener's. That said, I long for the days I could walk into my local outdoor or hardware store and pick up as many bricks of .22LR as I wanted for 1/4 - 1/3 the price I pay now.

This .22 Long Rifle ammo from Federal's Game-Shok series is a dependable, clean-shooting choice for both target shooting and small game hunting. These cartridges can be used in both manual and semi-automatic pistols and rifles.

Each cartridge in this 500 round "brick" fires a 40-grain copper plated solid bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,240 feet per second. This is "high velocity" ammo which produces good medium-range performance and terminal ballistics. This ammo can be fired through a suppressor to reduce the muzzle report somewhat but will generate some unavoidable noise as the bullet crosses the sound barrier. Against game, this ammo requires more careful shot placement than hollow point loads but is less destructive--a useful property for meat hunters.

Federal Game Shok ammo is loaded in Anoka, Minnesota. Federal is a division of Vista Outdoor, which produces a wide variety of products related to hunting, sport shooting, and defense.

Federal's American Eagle brand of ammunition is great for shooters on a budget who still want to invest their hard-earned cash in a name that they trust. That being said, these .22 Long Rifle rounds are made to be affordable while maintaining a standard of quality with modern components. These include brass rimfire casings that are rolled in Federal's own factory and primed with non-corrosive ignition mixtures. Each case is filled with clean-burning powder and topped off with a lead round nose (LRN) projectile.

The bare lead bullets weigh 40 grains and will match the ballistics of multiple practice and hunting loads. The rounded nose feeds cleanly while a large, pitted bourrelet makes slightly malleable contact with barrel rifling. This enhances spin stabilization for better accuracy downrange. LRN bullets are ideal for plinking, target shooting, and even some small game hunting. Federal ammunition has been trusted to supply law enforcement outfits, serious competitors, and general enthusiasts since 1922.

Good-quality, accurate ammo at a good price

Tried some of this not long ago at 100 yards in an old Springfield match rifle; it would've been good groups from match ammo in this rifle. And some match ammo I had to try out didn't shoot any better that I could tell.
