22LR Ammo
22 long rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting.
.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.
Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

Then keep looking. But if you’re in heated pursuit of bulk 22 LR ammo, then stick around! You’re about to get excited about Winchester USA bulk packs!
This cartridge’s bullet is three neat things: 36 grains and therefore supersonic out of a rifle, copper-plated so as to reduce (albeit by no means do away with) lead fouling, and hollow point, which enables it to dole out the terminal expansion that accelerates lethality on small game!
Winchester says this round’s 100-yard velocity equals 975 fps. Based on that alone, we extrapolate its trajectory to look like so: 0yds: -1.5” → 25yds: 1.5” → 50yds: 2.9” → 75yds: 2.5” → 100yds: 0.0” → 125yds: -4.7” → 150yds: -12.0”.

Only downside is that it is dirty
-
Other than the fact that Remington Thunderbolt 22 LR rimfire ammo is the dirtiest ammo I've fired in my High Standard Sentinel Deluxe .22 revolver, it is good stuff. Why? Because it fits nicely into the cylinder, doesn't snag when I eject them, it's quite accurate up to the 25 yard distance that I've shot it, and it is the best smelling powder that I've shot in a long time (it reminds me of gunpowder from sixty years ago). So, other than being (honestly) 4-5 times dirtier than the three other brands of .22 ammo that I've shot in the recent past (and by the way those other brands have made many different problems for my revolver and have failed to fire far too often), it is really good ammo.

Federal Premium’s Champion label ammunition is built for all your target-shooting and varmint-banishing needs, and it’s made in America by ice-fishing, snowmobile-riding, hotdish-devouring Minnesotans!
Most 22 LR rounds have a 40 grain bullet, which makes this 36gr load just a little lighter than usual. You won’t notice increased recoil or barrel fouling when you fire this standard-pressure yet high-velocity ammunition. The lead hollow point bullet’s nose profile is arguably a little less aerodynamic than that of a lead round nose, but it’s well worth it if you’d like training ammo that you can also effectively use to take small game. The LHP has a little terminal expansion in store for its recipient!
This all-purpose range ammo features carefully standardized brass cases, noncorrosive rimfire primers and low-fouling propellant charges. Order your case of 10 boxes and you’ll soon realize the true meaning of “fast shipping.” -

This simple cartridge is armed with a 36 grain projectile. The light bullet achieves a muzzle velocity of 1,260 upon clearing a long gun’s barrel, and remains supersonic until it flies approximately 45 yards downrange. The lead hollow point’s name tells you all you need to know about it: non-plated, and equipped for terminal expansion if it plunges into a soft medium.
Federal puts 325 loose rounds into one big box, which spares you the inconvenience of opening multiple boxes while you’re enjoying a longer range day. That frees up more time to appreciate Federal’s strong, straight and concentric brass cases, as well as their reliable rimfire primers. -

The only shame is not asking for help when you need it! And your dear old friends at Widener’s are always standing by to hook you up with the good stuff, like this 25 pound 3,200 round treasure trove of Minnesota-made ammo by Federal!
This cartridge’s bullet weighs in at 40 grains – perfectly standard, and capable of ripping out of a rifle at a velocity of 1,200 fps. That’ll prevent transonic destabilization from weakening accuracy until approximately 30 yards, and also create enough pressure to let a semi-automatic do its thing. The LRN delivers a predictable trajectory, although it will not end its performance with terminal expansion. It also isn’t copper plated, which makes it the budget-conscious shooter’s preferred solution to high-velocity shootin’!
Federal’s straight cases, sensitive primers and clean-igniting powder all do their jobs equally well. And so do we, because we ship fast as the blazes. You’ll be plinking with the best of them in no time! -

Give your little chipmunk blaster the gift of Remington’s 22 Golden Bullet ammunition – with 225 rounds to a single box so you can plink all day if you care to!
This makes good hunting ammo on the count of its bullet. At 36 grains it achieves a 1,280 fps muzzle velocity, perfect for the flat trajectory you want for dispatching varmints. The hollow point bullet will flatten out inside of a varmint as well, rendering a large wound cavity which no crow or squirrel is equipped to shrug off. The bullet is additionally plated with copper, so you can look forward to greater accuracy over the course of your hunt or target shooting time.
Remington’s versatile 22 LR ammo is non-corrosive and nonmagnetic, with uniform brass cases that help semi-autos, bolt-actions, revolvers and pumps operate efficiently. It’s (nearly) as good as gold! -
CCI Mini-Mag 22 LR 40 Grain SHP – 5000 Rounds

But you’re sure as heck going to finish it, because you’re about to order the small game hunter’s ultimate weapon: a 50-box case of CCI Mini-Mag 22 LR ammunition!
This round’s 40 grain bullet looks just like a normal copper-plated hollow point. Indeed, it is copper plated, which serves to conserve accuracy by minimizing lead fouling. But instead of terminal expansion, the segmented hollow point’s nose cavity is designed to unleash terminal fragmentation. It causes the bullet to break apart into three sharp fragments which inflict catastrophic damage inside a varmint’s small, delicate body.
CCI’s clean-burning powder and trusty primer spark up to deliver a steady 1,235 fps muzzle velocity out of a rifle barrel, so you can truly take aim at faraway critters. And regardless of which kind of firearm you’re firing, CCI’s premium brass will cycle right through it. -

We can think of a few things, but we don’t offer them for sale here at Widener's Reloading and Shooting Supply. We sell 22 LR ammo by Blazer!
This target and plinking load features a 38 grain lead round nose. It’s on the lighter end of the spectrum for a 22 LR bullet, which ensures the fast muzzle velocity that a straight and level trajectory can’t do without. (That high a muzzle velocity also indicates that this ammo will cycle semi-autos.) You’d hardly be doing a varmint any favors if you were to shoot it with an LRN, but this bullet’s inability to follow up impact with terminal expansion does make it a little more suitable for shooting stationary targets than it does hunting.
Blazer’s consistent and accurate LRN bullets are neatly seated in precision drawn and rimmed brass cases, with CCI’s famously reliable primers to take care of ignition. This ammo comes 10 cartons to a case for greater convenience.Customer Reviews

Blazer 22 LR 38 Grain LRN – 200 Rounds

It won’t give you the calcium you need for strong bones, but it will give you plenty of target shooting pleasure as it effortlessly cycles through semi-automatic and all other types of firearms!
This round’s 38 grain projectile is just a little bit lighter than usual. It’s still loaded to a normal chamber pressure, so its muzzle velocity out of a rifle barrel is fast at 1,235 fps. That conveys the flat trajectory you need to pick off small targets at long range, as well as plenty of energy on impact in the event you’re whacking a small critter.
The lead round nose is the 22 LR’s simplest bullet. You’re not paying for any copper when you choose the LRN, and you’re not signing up for terminal expansion, either. This bullet’s all about consistent target-grade accuracy, and it feeds smoothly into any gun’s waiting chamber.
Blazer ammo is made by CCI in Lewiston, Idaho. It’s loaded with CCI’s famous sensitive primers and high-quality brass cases, and its clean-burning propellant won’t quickly foul up your barrel with carbon residue. -

I bought a case of 5000 CCI 22lr. They come in plastic sleeves. I guess during shipping someone or several people dropped the box. Nearly all the plastic sleeves are broken at the bottom. I know this was most likely done during shipping but I think it could have been packaged better.

CCI Mini-Mag 22 LR 36 Grain CPHP – 300 Rounds
$34.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 36 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type plinking at the range, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 300 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 962 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 76683009623 Cost Per Round 11.6¢ per round If we could only recommend one brand of 22 LR ammunition, it would probably have to be CCI. The Idahoan company has over seven decades’ experience making high-quality ammunition and ammo components, and their original Mini-Mag label is still their most popular.
Don’t let “Mini-Mag” trick you into thinking this is 22 WMR or some kind of strange 22 LR +P ammo. It’s loaded to produce a safe chamber pressure for any 22 LR firearm, regardless of its design or year of manufacture. Semi-automatic firearms especially like this ammo – not just because its copper-plated hollow point bullets minimize fouling and promote reliable feeding, but also because its 36 grain projectiles and 1,260 fps muzzle velocity mean that it should cycle any semi-auto just fine.
We love this ammo for regular plinking and serious target practice, but it’s a great choice for varmint hunting as well. Once the CPHP bullet’s nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue, it will undergo the quick terminal expansion that inflicts greater damage to a small quarry. Order a box of 300 rounds – you won’t regret it!Customer Reviews

CCI Mini-Mag 22 LR 40 Grain CPRN – 100 Rounds
$12.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Round Nose (CPRN) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 100 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 30 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 76683000309 Cost Per Round 12.8¢ per round Don’t let this ammo’s brand name lead you astray. CCI’s “Mini-Mag” label 22 LR ammo is exactly the stuff you want for target shooting with any 22 LR firearm. Nothing’s quite so satisfying as slicing open the sticker on the Mini-Mag plastic case, sliding its lid open, and going to town with 100 high-quality rounds.
This cartridge’s 40 grain bullet is loaded to a muzzle velocity of 1,235 fps (out of a rifle barrel). That’s fast enough to deliver a flat trajectory out of rifles and pistols alike, and generates enough pressure to cycle any semi-automatic. The bullet’s round nose profile doesn’t permit it to expand (hence its suitability for target practice), but its copper plating does work to noticeably cut down on lead fouling.
CCI’s propellant is similarly designed to promote a cleaner barrel, so you can expect greater accuracy as your range session grinds on. CCI is a virtuoso when it comes to rimfire primers, and their brass cases are also top notch – two more reasons this ammo will swim through your chamber without a hitch.Customer Reviews

CCI Sub-Sonic 22 LR 40 Grain LHP – 100 Rounds
$12.85- Buy 5 at $10.85 /each and save
Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 40 Grain Bullet Type Lead Hollow Point (LHP) Use Type plinking at the range, Subsonic, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 100 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 56 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 76683000569 Cost Per Round 10.8¢ to 12.8¢ per round You want to shoot small animals – not blow their eardrums out. You’re also not opposed to making as little noise as possible while you’re depopulating the countryside of varmints. In fact, if you have a suppressor, then you might already have deleted your fair share of squirrels without waking the neighbors.
This 22 LR ammunition is for you. CCI’s very aptly named “Sub-Sonic” line of ammunition is precisely that: 1,050 fps muzzle velocity, which is 75 fps short of breaking the sound barrier and issuing a sonic boom on ignition.
You could easily terminate a squirrel with a non-expanding bullet. It’s not like the little buggers are plated in AR500. Even so, you’re bound to find that this cartridge’s 40 grain lead hollow point bullet is better suited to anti-squirrel tactics. The LHP expands without fragmenting, even at the lower velocity it is propelled to.
My dad had, like, a hundred empty plastic CCI boxes in his garage to hold all the washers, nails, screws, bolts, and other various bric-a-brac he would never wind up using. You can continue that fine tradition once you’ve emptied a few boxes of this extremely high-quality American-made rimfire ammunition. -

CCI Stinger 22 LR 32 Grain CPHP – 5000 Rounds
$824.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 32 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 5000 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 50 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 10076683000504 Cost Per Round 16.5¢ per round This 22 LR cartridge from CCI’s Stinger line of ammunition is crowned with a 32 grain projectile. A bullet that’s 20 percent lighter than what its caliber typically calls for means that this round delivers a whopping 1,640 fps muzzle velocity, and therefore an exceptionally flat trajectory that you can enjoy for knocking distant critters off of their mounds and branches. Its not only its extreme accuracy that makes this round so deadly to little critters -- its bullet possesses a unique teardrop cavity which enables it to widen to significantly greater than its original diameter during penetration.
This round’s casing is made of brass and to extremely high standards -- whatever platform you run it through, it’s going to work like it was made just for that firearm. CCI’s primer always provides reliable ignition, and their propellant is formulated to keep your weapon’s action and bore spotless for longer in between cleanings. -

But by increasing its muzzle velocity to a staggering rate of 1,640 fps, they gave it a trajectory so flat that even a spirit level wouldn’t do it justice. This 22 LR cartridge from the Stinger line of ammunition boasts accuracy so exceptional that squirrels and other vermin are lucky their brains aren’t big enough to permit them to comprehend just what they’re up against.
This round’s 32 grain bullet features a copper plating, so it will save your weapon’s bore from becoming rapidly fouled with lead residue, even further enhancing its accuracy. The bullet’s teardrop cavity further ensures the kind of expanding terminal performance you need to send critters packing. CCI Stinger 22 LR 32 Grain CPHP – 50 Rounds
$10.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 32 Grain Bullet Type Copper-Plated Hollow-Point (CPHP) Use Type varmint hunting Casing Type Nickel-Plated Brass Quantity 50 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 50 Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 76683000507 Cost Per Round 21.7¢ per round Do you love bees? Then you’re certain to love this box of CCI Stinger 22 LR ammunition, which has a little picture of a bee right on its packaging. But if you just love high-quality and super-accurate 22 LR hunting ammo, then you’ll be equally satisfied by Idaho’s best!
A CCI Stinger round puts all its chips on velocity. Its 32 grain bullet is 20% lighter than average. Its resultant low inertia means that it hits a scorching fast 1,640 fps muzzle velocity. The bullet’s trajectory is flat as a fritter (0.084 G1 BC), and it stays supersonic until about 85 yards.
This hyper-velocity cartridge’s bullet is a copper-plated hollow point. It minimizes barrel fouling and spells certain death to any varmint that experiences its fast terminal expansion firsthand. This ammo’s brass cases are nickel-plated to ensure smoother feeding and extraction in semi-auto firearms, and CCI’s rimfire primers are supremely reliable. -
CCI 22 LR 31 Grain #12 Shot – 200 Rounds
$99.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer CCI Condition New Bullet Weight 31 Grain Bullet Type #12 Shot Use Type Subsonic, varmint hunting Casing Type Brass Quantity 200 Ammo Caliber 22 Long Rifle (LR) Manufacturer SKU 39 Shot Material Lead Primer Type Rimfire Magnetic No UPC Barcode 76683500397 Cost Per Round 49.9¢ per round #12 shot hasn’t got the widest variety of applications. If you manage to take a tom turkey with it, then you deserve a Nobel prize for hunting (if in fact the Nobel Committee awards a prize in that category). No, what the .05” diameter pellets excel at, and are only good for, is taking out nearby varmints like rats and house mice. But who wants to carry around a shotgun just in case they cross paths with a rodent?
With this 22 LR shell by CCI, you’ll be ready for a spontaneous rat encounter so long as you’re carrying a small pistol. This round’s 31 grain load of #12 shot tears out of the muzzle at a subsonic speed of 1,000 fps, so it has got the range, spread, and power you need to prematurely end any pest’s cheese pilfering days.
Some 22 LR shells have crimped ends to hold in their shot, but we’ve found that they can present problems extracting on occasion. We personally prefer this round’s plastic tip, which doesn’t require the rim of the brass casing to change upon ignition. CCI’s responsive primer and consistent propellant charge promote reliable performance, but take caution that this round isn't intended to cycle a semi-automatic.
