22LR Ammo

.22 Long Rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting. Though not powerful enough for self-defense, it has helped many new shooters and CCW holders train in the fundamentals of firearm proficiency in part because you can fire bulk quantities at cheap prices.

.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.

Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

This 22 LR ammo by Blazer comes packaged in a cardboard milk carton. It won’t give you the calcium you need for strong bones, but it will give you plenty of target shooting pleasure as it effortlessly cycles through semi-automatic and all other types of firearms!

This round’s 38 grain projectile is just a little bit lighter than usual. It’s still loaded to a normal chamber pressure, so its muzzle velocity out of a rifle barrel is fast at 1,235 fps. That conveys the flat trajectory you need to pick off small targets at long range, as well as plenty of energy on impact in the event you’re whacking a small critter.

The lead round nose is the 22 LR’s simplest bullet. You’re not paying for any copper when you choose the LRN, and you’re not signing up for terminal expansion, either. This bullet’s all about consistent target-grade accuracy, and it feeds smoothly into any gun’s waiting chamber.

Blazer ammo is made by CCI in Lewiston, Idaho. It’s loaded with CCI’s famous sensitive primers and high-quality brass cases, and its clean-burning propellant won’t quickly foul up your barrel with carbon residue.

CCI of Idaho makes some of the finest 22 LR ammunition in the world. It doesn’t matter if you’re a rookie or an expert. It doesn’t matter what kind of firearm you’re using. If you want reliable, accurate performance, you only need to know three letters: C, C and I.

This Clean-22 cartridge has a very special 40 grain lead round nose bullet. It nearly eliminates lead fouling of the barrel courtesy of its thin polymer coating, and it can also reduce fouling of a suppressor by up to 80%. The polymer is highly resistant to heat, so it doesn’t leave behind any of its own residue that could gradually worsen accuracy. As a nice bonus, that polymer is also camo colors: black, brown and green!

This round’s non-corrosive primer and clean-burning powder work in tandem to deliver a supersonic muzzle velocity out of a rifle’s barrel. The sleek, ballistically efficient bullet does a great job of retaining superior downrange velocities, so you’re all set to do your fanciest shooting once you’ve got a 400-round jar of CCI’s high-velocity camo ammo!

    Magnetic No
Cost Per Round 15.0¢ per round

The 22 LR is the most popular cartridge in the world! Easy on the wallet, shoulder and ears – and above all else fun to fire – the little rimfire round certainly deserves its place on the throne. If you are a 22 LR appreciator, then you’ll appreciate the heck out of Browning’s range and varmint loads!

These cartridges sport the 22 LR’s most versatile projectile. The CPHP wears a thin copper coating to reduce the amount of contact its lead core can make with the barrel. That cuts down on lead fouling to preserve accuracy, which only becomes better courtesy of this 36 grain load’s high 1,280 fps muzzle velocity. The CPHP’s nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue if it hits a quarry at high enough velocity – the resultant terminal expansion spells “lights out” for Mister Squirrel, Mister Chipmunk or Miss Woodchuck.

This is brass-cased, non-corrosive and quite naturally nonmagnetic 22 LR ammo from the good old U.S. of A. Each case is split into four boxes of 400 loose rounds each. One box ought to take care of one intense range session or a whole lot of varmint hunting!

“Aguila” doesn’t just mean “eagle” in Spanish. It is also used to refer to something large or powerful, or a leader. And that makes perfect sense, because Aguila is one of the world’s leading rimfire ammunition producers!

If we had to pick a favorite 22 LR bullet, it would probably be the copper plated hollow point like this round is loaded with. Some people say they don’t notice a difference, but we’ve definitely appreciated how that copper plating helps to slow down lead residue accumulation which slowly weakens accuracy. And while the CPHP is a perfectly acceptable target shooting projectile, we also appreciate a bullet that expands inside small game. You never know when a varmint might rear its buck-toothed head.

This cartridge’s bullet weighs in at 38 grains, and its muzzle velocity out of a rifle’s barrel is well beyond supersonic. Even if your semi-auto is a pistol, you can count on so powerful a 22 LR cartridge to properly cycle it. Aguila’s brass also supports smooth functionality, making this ammo a safe go-to pick no matter what you’re firing!

Don’t let this ammo’s brand name lead you astray. CCI’s “Mini-Mag” label 22 LR ammo is exactly the stuff you want for target shooting with any 22 LR firearm. Nothing’s quite so satisfying as slicing open the sticker on the Mini-Mag plastic case, sliding its lid open, and going to town with 100 high-quality rounds.

This cartridge’s 40 grain bullet is loaded to a muzzle velocity of 1,235 fps (out of a rifle barrel). That’s fast enough to deliver a flat trajectory out of rifles and pistols alike, and generates enough pressure to cycle any semi-automatic. The bullet’s round nose profile doesn’t permit it to expand (hence its suitability for target practice), but its copper plating does work to noticeably cut down on lead fouling.

CCI’s propellant is similarly designed to promote a cleaner barrel, so you can expect greater accuracy as your range session grinds on. CCI is a virtuoso when it comes to rimfire primers, and their brass cases are also top notch – two more reasons this ammo will swim through your chamber without a hitch.

    UPC Barcode 640420013114
Cost Per Round 19.9¢ per round

This big range pack of 22 LR ammo by Aguila is the perfect way to enjoy any firearm at the range. Bolt-action rifle, or semi-auto like the AR-15 or 10/22? Buntline revolver or compact semi-auto? It’s still going to love burning through 250 rounds of Mexico’s finest just as much as you will!

This round’s 40 grain bullet pours out of a rifle’s muzzle at 1,255 fps – more than 100 fps faster than the speed of sound, and accordingly easier to aim thanks to its flat trajectory. The bullet does a great job of preventing residue from building up inside the barrel, as its copper plating prevents the lead in its core from gumming up the rifling. A round nose bullet like this may deform a little inside of soft tissue; not nearly as much as a hollow point, but we still wouldn’t want to be the squirrel who gets knocked in the ribs with a 40 grain CPRN traveling at 1,000 fps.

Aguila developed their own intensely reliable rimfire primer technology, making certain it would live up to even an Olympian’s expectations. Each round’s non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant complement its copper-plated bullet’s performance to keep fouling at an acceptable minimum.

    Happy to find

I was very happy to find this product, I received the ammo promptly, it was well packaged, easy to scroll thru the website.

    Flies like an eagle!

I discovered Aguila ammo a number of years ago. It is my go-to in .22LR, and its 9mm 124 gr offering is also tops. (The 9mm offering I've used has a mid-case crimp to prevent the bullets from moving under high recoil, a problem that can cause FTF and FTE.) I believe Aguila ammo is made at a former Remington facility in Mexico. Component quality is superb. This .22 is very reliable. I shoot it in several guns; works very well.

    Very accurate

With my Marlin which is far more accurate than my ruger 10/22. Due to standard heavy barrel and 12 microgrove rifling at about 40 yards this CCI standard velocity rounds were basically trying to go through the same hole. Left a hole about the size of a .30 cal with about 8 rnds. Very surprised as the standard cheap. 22 rds aren't as consistent or accurate. These are subsonic so more accurate than high velocity.

If you watch MeatEater, then you already know that host Steven Rinella couldn’t get by just using CCI’s 22 LR ammunition. He’d have had a heckuva time filming the Alaskan moose hunting episodes that way. But when the hunter goes after smaller game like beaver, hare and squirrel, he’d certainly have an easy go of it with such high-quality ammo!

This is a hunter’s 22 LR round, although you’d certainly not waste it at the old pistol or rifle range, either. The 36 grain CPHP will leave a rifle’s barrel at 1,260 fps, and retain over 1,000 fps of velocity by the time it streaks past 100 yards. That’s the flat trajectory you want when you’re picking off smaller quarries, and the bullet’s hollow point nose cavity gives it plenty of punch following impact.

This is clean-shooting ammo. Its copper-plated bullet does work to slow down lead fouling, and its non-corrosive primer and clean-burning powder both do their part to maintain a firearm’s accuracy. CCI’s rimfire primers are widely respected for their superior reliability, and once they ignite this ammo’s powder they’ll create the chamber pressure needed to cycle a semi-automatic firearm.
