22LR Ammo

22 long rifle ammo is an extremely popular, versatile, and cost-effective rimfire cartridge suitable for varmint and small game hunting as well as competition and casual target shooting.

.22LR cartridges typically come in two major varieties: subsonic "standard velocity" loads and supersonic "high velocity" loads. Standard velocity ammo typically fires a 40 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 1,000 feet per second. "SV" ammo's avoidance of the sound barrier makes it ideal for suppressors and enhances close-range accuracy, an important benefit for match shooting. High velocity ammunition fires the same 40 grain bullet (or sometimes a lighter one) at a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second and produces flatter trajectories and better terminal performance against game; it is also the preferred load for many semi-automatic firearms as it cycles their actions more reliably.

Most ammo manufacturers produce at least one .22 LR load; hollow points are obviously best suited for hunting, while basic lead nose bullets are used for target shooting. The bullets are typically plated with copper or covered in a variety of coatings to reduce lead fouling. Notable rimfire specialists include ELEY, which is a favorite of many competitive shooters, and CCI, which manufactures the famously reliable Mini-Mag as well as a wide variety of hunting and target shooting loads in every velocity and projectile category.

That makes this 3,250 round bulk pack, consisting of ten separate 325 round bricks, ideal of long-term plinking storage, precision sight zeroing, competitive match use, and Appleseed event sponsorship. Federal Premium is an American company with a huge reputation for innovation across hunting, sporting, and defensive sections of ammunition. Their quality and consistency has been trusted for years by the U.S. public.

This .22 LR rounds use typical brass casings and lead round nose (LRN) bullets which can have an accuracy-increasing effect on match grade barrels after repeated use and minimal cleaning. The projectiles weigh in at 40 grains which is a typical heavy weight bullet used for matches due to its potential to reach farther distances and maintain a flatter relative trajectory after leaving the muzzle at 1,200 feet-per-second. Federal takes special measures to make sure that these rounds will cycle semi-automatic rifles and pistols like the Ruger 10/22 or Charger reliably.

This round’s relatively light bullet and subsonic muzzle velocity are certain to minimize your exposure to recoil, as well as serve up the flat trajectory which simplifies every kind of target shooting you could name!

This round’s unplated and non-expanding bullet has been temporarily homed inside a quality brass case. Remington’s primer and powder serve their only purpose like clockwork, and they don’t produce excessive fouling during ignition. Order one box and you’ll get a whopping 550 rounds … loose-packed!

    Customer Reviews

Only downside is that it is dirty

Other than the fact that Remington Thunderbolt 22 LR rimfire ammo is the dirtiest ammo I've fired in my High Standard Sentinel Deluxe .22 revolver, it is good stuff. Why? Because it fits nicely into the cylinder, doesn't snag when I eject them, it's quite accurate up to the 25 yard distance that I've shot it, and it is the best smelling powder that I've shot in a long time (it reminds me of gunpowder from sixty years ago). So, other than being (honestly) 4-5 times dirtier than the three other brands of .22 ammo that I've shot in the recent past (and by the way those other brands have made many different problems for my revolver and have failed to fire far too often), it is really good ammo.

You’ve finally found it – the 22 LR motherlode! Federal Premium’s Champion label ammunition is built for all your target-shooting and varmint-banishing needs, and it’s made in America by ice-fishing, snowmobile-riding, hotdish-devouring Minnesotans!

Most 22 LR rounds have a 40 grain bullet, which makes this 36gr load just a little lighter than usual. You won’t notice increased recoil or barrel fouling when you fire this standard-pressure yet high-velocity ammunition. The lead hollow point bullet’s nose profile is arguably a little less aerodynamic than that of a lead round nose, but it’s well worth it if you’d like training ammo that you can also effectively use to take small game. The LHP has a little terminal expansion in store for its recipient!

This all-purpose range ammo features carefully standardized brass cases, noncorrosive rimfire primers and low-fouling propellant charges. Order your case of 10 boxes and you’ll soon realize the true meaning of “fast shipping.”

    Well worth the money.

Bought it for the wife's and step-daughters Ruger Mark 3's. Cycled nicely and the reduced recoil (I'm afraid to shoot it!) helped them with their aiming and trigger control. For the family bonding aspect...well worth the money.

    Very accurate

With my Marlin which is far more accurate than my ruger 10/22. Due to standard heavy barrel and 12 microgrove rifling at about 40 yards this CCI standard velocity rounds were basically trying to go through the same hole. Left a hole about the size of a .30 cal with about 8 rnds. Very surprised as the standard cheap. 22 rds aren't as consistent or accurate. These are subsonic so more accurate than high velocity.

The bullet is additionally plated with copper, so you can look forward to greater accuracy over the course of your hunt or target shooting time.

Remington’s versatile 22 LR ammo is non-corrosive and nonmagnetic, with uniform brass cases that help semi-autos, bolt-actions, revolvers and pumps operate efficiently. It’s (nearly) as good as gold!

Its thin copper exterior enables the bullet to feed smoothly without the need for waxy lubricant, thus promoting cleaner performance in semi-automatic firearms. This is a high-velocity round thanks to its relatively lighter 36 grain projectile. Its 1,260 fps muzzle velocity will provide enough juice to reliably cycle a magazine-fed pistol or rifle. If the little hollow point lands on its target with enough momentum, it will widen out and kill the bejeezus out of a small game animal.

When you fire this ammo out of a rifle, its 0.125 G1 ballistic coefficient will prevent transonic destabilization until approximately 42 yards. Expect steady ballistic performance and consistent accuracy courtesy of CCI’s highly standardized primers and powder charges!

If we could only recommend one brand of 22 LR ammunition, it would probably have to be CCI. The Idahoan company has over seven decades’ experience making high-quality ammunition and ammo components, and their original Mini-Mag label is still their most popular.

Don’t let “Mini-Mag” trick you into thinking this is 22 WMR or some kind of strange 22 LR +P ammo. It’s loaded to produce a safe chamber pressure for any 22 LR firearm, regardless of its design or year of manufacture. Semi-automatic firearms especially like this ammo – not just because its copper-plated hollow point bullets minimize fouling and promote reliable feeding, but also because its 36 grain projectiles and 1,260 fps muzzle velocity mean that it should cycle any semi-auto just fine.

We love this ammo for regular plinking and serious target practice, but it’s a great choice for varmint hunting as well. Once the CPHP bullet’s nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue, it will undergo the quick terminal expansion that inflicts greater damage to a small quarry. Order a box of 300 rounds – you won’t regret it!

Want to make your 22 LR pistol, carbine or rifle LOUDER? Figure out a way to affix the horn from a phonograph to its muzzle. Problem solved.

But what if you want to make your firearm quieter, which is a much more normal thing to do? Well, in that case, the answer is looking right at you: CCI Clean-22 Suppressor!

This cartridge’s soft report isn’t the product of magic juju. Its 45 grain bullet is just too heavy to accelerate faster than the speed of sound, which means no piercing crack on ignition. Got a suppressor? Then this ammo’s one of your best bets for unlocking its full potential. Don’t got a suppressor? Then this ammo’s still going to noticeably reduce your gun’s noise signature at the range or in the woods.

Suppressor-owners are really going to like this round’s polymer-coated lead round nose, which reduces lead fouling within the muzzle device by up to 60%. But once again, if you don’t have a suppressor, then you’ll still love CCI Clean-22 Suppressor ammunition. It keeps the barrel cleaner, too!

And the sprinkles on the sundae? Dependable actuation of semi-automatic firearms – a nice feat for a subsonic load, if we do say so ourselves!

DO NOT pour the contents of this milk carton in your coffee of over your Fruit Loops. Pour it into your favorite 22 LR firearms instead!

This ammo is rich in vitamin D. The “D” stands for “dependability,” because it’s ready and able to cycle semi-automatics without a hiccup. That’s a rare feat for subsonic 22 LR, but all in a day’s work for CCI Clean-22 Suppressor!

Subsonic 22 LR is intensely accurate by nature. It is also a lot quieter, as it avoids breaking the sound barrier and issuing a little sonic boom as a result. That’s precisely the kind of action you want if you’re firing through a suppressor, but also conducive to appreciably subtler performance even when a suppressor isn’t part of the picture.

This round’s 45 grain bullet is an ordinary lead round nose. SIKE! It is actually special, because it is coated in polymer that (A) conserves accuracy by curtailing lead fouling of the bore, and (B) simplifies any suppressor-owner’s life by reducing fouling within the device by as much as 60 percent.

CCI Velocitor .22 LR ammo is the last word in varmint extermination. These "hyper velocity" cartridges deliver explosive fragmentation that makes quick work of squirrels, rabbits, nutria, and other pest animals with one well-placed shot. This ammo is compatible with both semi-automatic and manual action firearms. Grab this 5,000 round case for great bulk savings!

Each round in this case fires a 40-grain copper plated hollow point bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,435 feet per second. This is about 40% faster than standard velocity loads; the higher velocity flattens the projectile's trajectory and encourages rapid expansion. The main downside is a greatly increased muzzle report, which a suppressor can reduce to a limited (but noticeable) extent.

CCI (Cascade Cartridge Inc) is an Idaho-based manufacturer of quality primers and rimfire ammunition. The company is part of Vista Outdoor, a group of shooting related brands that also includes Federal, Estate, Speer, and many others.

When you’ve got a brick of CCI Velocitor, the world is your shooting gallery. Punch squirrels out of trees. Teach porcupines that needles aren’t welcome on your property. Give crows a real reason to wear black! It’s all in a day’s work for this ultra-velocity 22 LR ammunition from Idaho.

That’s right. This is bona fide ultra-velocity ammunition, which pushes its 40 grain bullet to a muzzle velocity of 1,435 fps – without exceeding SAAMI pressure specs. Such a fast-moving bullet really hauls downrange, exhibiting the flat trajectory that simplifies long-range aiming in the process. The bullet’s superior momentum also enables it to hit hard: over 150 ft lbs striking energy at 25 yards. Ka-BLAM!

The copper-plated hollow point bullet doesn’t just sink deeply into its unfortunate target. It is also built to undergo terminal expansion, which is why it reliably inflicts a wound column that is significantly wider than 0.22” in diameter. The CPHP is securely nestled in the mouth of a primo brass case, with one of CCI’s own outstanding rimfire primers just behind it. A swell choice for any gun!

That’s not a typo! CCI’s “22 Stangers” series 22 LR ammunition is the same as their usual Stinger ammo – it’s just renamed in honor of 22plinkster, a YouTuber who shares cool new trick shot videos every week. If you want to do your own fancy shooting and maybe cut down a few varmints in their prime, this is the rimfire ammo to do it with!

This cartridge is loaded with a very light 32 grain bullet, and its muzzle velocity is accordingly wicked fast at 1,640 fps. Its 0.084 G1 ballistic coefficient means the bullet will show off an extremely flat trajectory until it becomes destabilized as the result of going subsonic at about 85 yards. The round’s light bullet and fast muzzle velocity balance each other out to provide a standard chamber pressure, so you can count on reliable cycling from a semi-auto.

The copper-plated hollow point bullet is designed to minimize the rate of barrel fouling, but its nose cavity is its more exciting feature. That’s how it produces terminal expansion within small game, which makes the fast-flying bullet that much deadlier to squirrels and other bothersome beasts.

This ammo is loaded in Idaho with CCI’s famously reliable primers, as well as low-friction nickel-plated brass cases. They’re great if you want the smoothest possible cycling out of your mag-fed autoloader!

Each round in this box of 50 fires a 40 grain lead round nose (solid) bullet. The bullets are coated to reduce fouling and lead exposure.

Do you love bees? Then you’re certain to love this box of CCI Stinger 22 LR ammunition, which has a little picture of a bee right on its packaging. But if you just love high-quality and super-accurate 22 LR hunting ammo, then you’ll be equally satisfied by Idaho’s best!

A CCI Stinger round puts all its chips on velocity. Its 32 grain bullet is 20% lighter than average. Its resultant low inertia means that it hits a scorching fast 1,640 fps muzzle velocity. The bullet’s trajectory is flat as a fritter (0.084 G1 BC), and it stays supersonic until about 85 yards.

This hyper-velocity cartridge’s bullet is a copper-plated hollow point. It minimizes barrel fouling and spells certain death to any varmint that experiences its fast terminal expansion firsthand. This ammo’s brass cases are nickel-plated to ensure smoother feeding and extraction in semi-auto firearms, and CCI’s rimfire primers are supremely reliable.

Do you intend to carry a semi-automatic 22 LR pistol for self-defense? Then take a piece of advice: choose CCI ammunition. The Idahoan company is an absolute virtuoso in its field – namely, the production of rimfire-primed ammo – and supplies all the quality the defense of your life demands.

And it only gets better. Now that CCI has developed the Uppercut cartridge, you can have all that quality in a round specifically designed for positive functionality in a semi-auto pistol with a 2.5-4 inch barrel.

This round’s 32 grain bullet hits a deceptively high muzzle velocity: 950 fps, which is hot for the 4” test barrel CCI used to record it. In addition to cycling the pistol reliably, that muzzle velocity ensures the bullet reaches the target with at least 64 ft lbs of kinetic energy.

For reference, minimum striking energy of 260 ft lbs is advisable for defense. But thanks to its rugged copper jacket and skived nose cavity, the jacketed hollow point has its best chance at achieving sufficiently deep penetration and wide expansion.

#12 shot hasn’t got the widest variety of applications. If you manage to take a tom turkey with it, then you deserve a Nobel prize for hunting (if in fact the Nobel Committee awards a prize in that category). No, what the .05” diameter pellets excel at, and are only good for, is taking out nearby varmints like rats and house mice. But who wants to carry around a shotgun just in case they cross paths with a rodent?

With this 22 LR shell by CCI, you’ll be ready for a spontaneous rat encounter so long as you’re carrying a small pistol. This round’s 31 grain load of #12 shot tears out of the muzzle at a subsonic speed of 1,000 fps, so it has got the range, spread, and power you need to prematurely end any pest’s cheese pilfering days.

Some 22 LR shells have crimped ends to hold in their shot, but we’ve found that they can present problems extracting on occasion. We personally prefer this round’s plastic tip, which doesn’t require the rim of the brass casing to change upon ignition. CCI’s responsive primer and consistent propellant charge promote reliable performance, but take caution that this round isn't intended to cycle a semi-automatic.
