This round’s bullet is no ordinary 180 grain soft point. It is the InterLock: a bullet named after the ring protruding from the interior surface of its jacket, which mechanically locks its two components together. The cannelure just above the ring serves the same purpose, which doubly equips the bullet for high weight retention and deep penetration.
The InterLock’s jacket wears symmetrical interior grooves around its rim. The jacket is also tapered, which does even more to ensure massive mushrooming at lower velocities. The InterLock does conserve its velocity pretty effectively thanks to its sleek profile and balanced weight distribution, though, so you can expect the 0.425 G1 BC bullet to hit 500 yards with almost 960 ft lbs of energy (Hornady took this round’s MV and G1 BC with the aid of a 24” test barrel).
