223 (5.56) Ammo

.223 Remington ammunition and 5.56x45 NATO are closely related and sometimes interchangeable cartridges depending on the firearm they are to be used with. Manufacturers typically offer guidance on this point. In general, the 5.56 NATO ammunition the military uses and is for sale to the civilian market operates at higher pressures than .223 Remington ammo. Most, but not all, AR-15s are chambered for 5.56 NATO and can fire both types of ammo.

Many loads in both calibers follow the M193 or M855 standard, both of which are military specifications. M193 ammo typically fires a 55 grain full metal jacket bullet at 3,240 feet per second, while M855 ammo fires a heavier 62 grain FMJ bullet at about 3,100 feet per second. These common standards are very helpful when sighting in your optics and you'll find both cartridges in-stock and available in cheap bulk packs here at Widener's

Certain specialized loads deviate from these common standards. Competition grade .223/5.56 ammo fires a heavier bullet (most commonly a Sierra MatchKing) in the 77 grain range to provide better stability and more predictable trajectories; varmint loads, on the other hand, fire light 30-40 grain bullets at very high velocities to produce lethal fragmentation against pest animals.

One of the most sought after range loads for this caliber is Lake City ammunition, which is produced by Federal Premium Ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. LCAAP production is typically excess from government contracts and is popular due to its military origins and high quality.

Load up on some high quality, low cost ammunition for your favorite AR or other .223/5.56mm caliber rifle. PMC Bronze ammunition comes from South Korea out of the some of the most sophisticated and efficient manufacturing plants. A length of experience producing ammunition for NATO countries as well as adherence to U.S. standard tolerances has a resulted in inexpensive ammo with high reliability.

These cartridges are constructed using reloadable brass casings fitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers and topped by full metal jacket boat-tail (FMJ-BT) bullets. The bullets weigh in at 55 grains which is a standard across the board for the caliber and will stabilize with the widest ranges of barrel lengths and twists. In addition, the boat tail tapered rear of the bullet reduces drag and increases accuracy. This bulk pack of 1,000 rounds is great to stock up on for matches and classes and has been specifically recommended by some training companies like the United States Shooting Academy (USSA).

Ammo was nicely boxed and performed great.

It was low priced. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was boxed well in 20 round boxes and it looked great. Performed well too, just as all remington ammo has in the past. I like the brass, its a little heavier than other makes and reloads well.

    Excellent ammo for the price

Excellent ammo for the price. Runs very good and clean, no problems with whatsoever.

Review by Madmax (Posted on 9/19/2016)

    even better than expected

I was looking for better accuracy than I'd found with _ _ _ _ M193 type ammo and reviews indicated the PMC was the answer. Bought a case to function test a new M-4(gery) for another shooter. This ammo is topnotch-more accurate than the carbine's owner can utilize. I just wish I'd bought two cases and kept one.

Great ammo with a great price!

Great price for 1000 rounds. 200 rounds through my Daniel Defense so far and had no problems. Need to order more before Jan 1 since I'm in CA.

200 Rounds Fired So Far: 0 Complaints

The ammo came in a convenient packaging of 20 rd boxes. Convenient to load two mags of 10 rd each (in the pathetic state of CT, that's all we're allowed). No issues with the firing or ejection. Tight grouping at 25 yards after sighting in. Haven't tried 100 yards yet. No complaints

    Good quality, great price

Good quality ammo, runs great, never had an issue, run it in AR and COLT M-16 in full auto.

Review by randall (Posted on 5/18/2016)

Fired 3000+ Rounds, not a single issue

PMC Bronze is great ammo. Im on my fourth case right now, and I love it. Zero failures. With my Daniel Defense 16" Carbine and an ACOG I was effortlessly hitting 24" square steel at 500yds with 55gr! I prefer it to other ammo as most other brand 5.56 has the dirty looking annealing burn marks on the neck of the cartridge, but PMC takes the time to polish that off. It doesnt affect function of course, but it is a really nice touch. Quality ammo, buy with confidence.

Have run through about 300 rounds of this ammo with no issues. Good ammo for the money

AR-15 rifles shouldn’t be illegal – but not having enough 223 Rem ammo is a crime! Order yourself a big old case of Igman ammo and you’ll be ready for serious range training, carefree plinking out in the woods, or any kind of crisis that you’ll want to be armed for.

This ammo doesn’t do anything unusual when it comes to its performance. It’s loaded with the staple 55 grain full metal jacket – a bullet designed to optimize functionality in a semi-auto rifle as it prevents failures to feed and heavy lead fouling alike. Igman loads their 223 Rem’s FMJ to a muzzle velocity of 3,200 fps, which is nearly identical to M193 specs. Don’t look for steel in this round’s nonmagnetic bullet. You’re not going to find any!

This ammo is decked out with new brass cases. Igman doesn’t polish their brass after they’ve subjected it to heat treatment – the brass is only gray for that reason, and not because it has been reloaded. But you can reload it yourself after you’ve removed these rounds’ non-corrosive Boxer primers!

Igman is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were established all the way back in 1950 to supply ammo to the Yugoslavian army, and stuck around to become one of the biggest ammo factories in Europe.

We serve a lot of reloading enthusiasts here at Widener’s. Reloaders are people who generally turn their noses up at steel cased ammo, which means they have little use for Wolf’s regular stuff. But Wolf Gold is an exception. Not only does this 5.56x45 cartridge have a reloadable brass case, but its bullet is nonmagnetic for compliance at indoor ranges!

Wolf gave this round a 55 grain FMJ, the bullet of choice for training, target shooting and spur of the moment plinking. The FMJ utilizes an economical, smooth feeding, and clean shooting design instead of one that delivers terminal expansion. Wolf’s concentric copper jacket and pure lead core offer decent target grade accuracy. At a muzzle velocity of 3,250 fps this round achieves in-flight and terminal ballistics comparable to the ball M193 load.

Wolf’s brass case boasts a concentric neck, consistent wall thickness, and non-corrosive Boxer primer. It’s ready for round two at your reloading station as soon as you’ve fired it. This round’s smokeless propellant burns clean to create a steady chamber pressure. Just take care that it may be too much pressure for a rifle chambered only for 223 Rem to handle.

The X-TAC line from PMC more closely follows the same specifications used for manufacturing military grade ammunition. As a result, this 1000 bulk pack of 5.56mm has a few features that you won't find in usual lots of inexpensive ammo. These XP193 rounds are great for rainy day storage, high round count classes, practice sessions, fun plinking, and building a ballistic chart close to NATO-spec M193.

Like M193, these XP193 rounds feature 55 grain bullets which are compatible with the widest range of barrel lengths and twists of AR, SCAR, ACR, and other 5.56x45mm chambered rifles. The full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) projectiles feature a toothed cannelure which prevents round setback during rough handling or repeated loading and live ejection; bullet setback can affect accuracy or even cause catastrophic firearm failure. In addition, the reloadable brass casings have a consistent coat of sealant surrounding their non-corrosive Boxer primers which prevents moisture from entering the cartridge and creating dud rounds. The casings are also annealed for added strength to prevent pressure-induced malfunctions and guarantee long brass life for reloaders.

PMC ammunition is produced in South Korea on some of the same tooling and machines used to supply NATO countries with war-fighting ammo. These bulk packs are highly regarded among American shooters for their inexpensive cost, high reliability, and adherence to M193 specification.

Get your fill of M855 style ammo with this 1000 round bulk pack of PMC's X-TAC NATO 5.56mm. Just like milspec M855, these rounds use 62 grain bullets with light-amor penetrating* steel tips which are painted green for easy identification. As a result, these rounds will match ballistic tables and ballistic drop compensation (BDC) reticles commonly used with modern low power scopes. The reloadable brass casings are annealed at the neck and shoulder for added strength (useful to reloaders) while the non-corrosive Boxer primers are bordered by moisture-blocking sealant. The bullets are full metal jacket (FMJ) and possess toothed cannelures to prevent projectile setback.

PMC is a South Korean based company that sources its ammunition from plants that supply to the ROK military as well as other to other NATO countries. Their X-TAC line is highly regarded for adhering to stringent military specification while still maintaining an inexpensive price for all shooters.

*While this is not armor-penetrating ammunition by definition, some ranges will not allow these rounds to be fired indoors nor outdoors on certain steel targets.

    Best M855 I’ve shot

I’ve purchased dozens of cases of PMC XTAC M855 because they shoot great in both my 16” 1:7 spin carbine and my 20” 1;9 barrels. Also, they have EXCELLENT brass cases for reloading and last many reloads/firing cycles.
If you want to store these long term, they are sealed completely and should last for decades if stored in a clean sealed container.
BTW, when I started buying these ~10 years ago, they $.17/rnd. Save your brass even if you don’t reload yourself.

    Best M855 round

This is the best M855 ammo I've ever bought. It's not second class or third class M855 like what Lake City is that the public can purchase. PMC sale first rate M855 to the public at a fair price and it's very clean brass.

We might be one of the nation’s preeminent ammunition suppliers here at Widener's, but we’re still down to earth. We put regular unleaded in our Italian sports cars, and we only buy dog food that is made out of extant animals. We even shoot steel cased ammo, like these 223 Rem cartridges by Wolf. They’re just too good of a deal to pass up on, even if you wear a tuxedo to your kids’ school plays.

This round’s a great deal owing to its steel casing. We’d say that the biggest drawback of steel is that it’s no good for handloading, but if you like so many others don’t bother to handload anyway, that shortcoming is about as moot as can be. Wolf applies a proprietary polymer treatment to their casings, so you can expect smooth and reliable performance out of any platform of rifle, even a semi-auto as you’re rapidly firing it.

This is a range round, with an FMJ that takes better care of inanimate targets than live ones. The bullet weighs 55 grains, so anyone even remotely experienced with an AR-15 ought to know just how it’s going to handle.

Is your AR-15 ready for the range? How about a real emergency – the kind that only canned goods, candles, and brass-cased ammo can carry you through? So long as your firearm is chambered for 5.56x45 and you like thinking ahead, this case of ammo by Winchester is a much-needed addition to your stockpile.

This is just about the most elemental ammo you could have on hand. Each cartridge is faithfully loaded according to M193 specifications, with a full metal jacket bullet to prevent feeding issues and accelerated barrel leading. You won’t get expansion out of an FMJ, but you’ll still get the kind of terminal ballistics that prove so effective for home defense. At 55 grains this round’s bullet reliably achieves a muzzle velocity in the range of 3,180 fps. That’ll treat you to the satisfyingly flat trajectory you need to thread distant targets.

Winchester’s USA ammo features newly forged brass cases, sensitive and non-corrosive Boxer primers for reloadability, and of course clean-burning powder. Don’t look for any steel in this nonmagnetic ammo – you won’t find it!

Winchester’s USA label doesn’t just stand for American-made. It stands for consistent quality and satisfying target-grade accuracy that you’ll want to take with you whenever you visit the range.

Winchester manufactures their white box ammo specifically for the civilian shooter. They did load this 5.56x45 ammo to our military’s M193 specifications, however, which means it offers the same kind of performance which most veterans of the Armed Forces must already be familiar with.

This cartridge has a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. At that weight it achieves a steady 3,180 fps muzzle velocity, which will keep it traveling at supersonic speed until around 700 yards – well beyond the 5.56’s effective range. The FMJ’s hard jacket promotes positive functioning in a semi-auto courtesy of its ability to feed smoothly and prevent rapid fouling. This round’s FMJ cannot expand inside soft tissue, although it may fragment apart at higher velocities.

This ammo also sports virgin brass cases. You will notice that they are discolored in the areas where they were annealed, which indicates that the brass is elastic enough to return to its original dimensions after ignition. Alongside their non-corrosive Boxer primers, that makes this ammo’s cases perfect for handloaders.

The gilded metal jacket wrapped around its lead alloy core hardens it substantially, allowing it to prevent lead fouling and penetrate most common targets on impact. The bullet’s concentric jacket and extremely fast muzzle velocity give it a nice, flat trajectory, the sort you could depend on to hit varmint-sized targets if you so wished.

When you have no ammo, your rifle no go BANG. But when you have whole case of ammo, then your rifle go BANG very much. It’s a no-brainer! Whether you want to spend a lot of quality time with your rifle at the local gun store’s big range or your buddy’s backyard plinking gallery, Federal’s American Eagle 223 Rem ammo cannot be beat!

This round is all about serving up consistent target grade accuracy. At 55 grains, its bullet is light enough to deliver a fast 3,240 fps muzzle velocity. And because the bullet’s sharp nose profile and low-drag boat tail base are so ballistically efficient, the FMJBT is going to stay supersonic beyond 750 yards. Good luck hitting a target at that range!

Federal’s gilding metal jacket does not contain any steel. That and this bullet’s solid lead core won’t do anything funny to a magnet, so you have free license to fire this Minnesotan-made ammo at any range on your radar. This ammo also has uniform brass cases to promote reliable feeding and cleaner ignition. Can you reload it? You bet you can!

This 5.56x45 ammo by Winchester is magnetic. That’s not because Winchester sought to cut down on production costs by implementing bimetal jackets, but rather because they manufactured these rounds according to M855 specifications!

Each cartridge sports a 62 grain penetrator bullet. Its tip is only green because it is painted, not made of polymer. That indicates the front end of its core is made of pure steel. Steel hardens the bullet’s tip substantially, giving the shooter a huge advantage when he wants to penetrate sheet metal.

Magnetic bullets are not permitted at some indoor ranges because the steel inside them could create sparks or damage range equipment. You’ll want to call ahead to check a range’s policy on magnetic ammo before you take M855 to their premises. Steel can also cause a ricochet, making this ammo a poor choice for tactical training with steel targets!

Our customers are often concerned about the appearance of this ammo’s cases. To be certain, this is not reloaded ammo – the manufacturer just skipped buffing out the grayness on the cases after heat-treating them.

Pay no mind to the gray discoloration around the cases’ necks – that’s the harmless byproduct of the heat-treatment procedure which made them stronger. Winchester donates part of their proceeds from this ammo to Folds of Honor, an exceptional non-profit which sends fallen soldiers’ kids off to college.

Every American should own at least 500 rounds of 5.56x45 ammunition. Furthermore, they should all buy that ammo from us. If you would like to lead by example, then we invite you to order a case of Federal Premium American Eagle 5.56 … from us!

This is true military spec ammunition, with the 55 grain full metal jacket bullet that earns it the M193 classification ( Federal adds an “X” to show that it’s made for civilians instead of the troops). The solid point bullet won’t widen out if it plows into soft tissue. It may rupture apart into multiple fragments, but that doesn’t qualify as the terminal expansion you would want while you’re hunting deer or other medium size game. The uncomplicated FMJ merely has the dense lead core and hard copper jacket it requires to feed and fire reliably in all semi-auto firearms. This ammo’s bullets don’t contain steel, so they’re 100% compliant for target shooting at all ranges.

This ammo’s strong and uniform brass cases promise predictable functionality in all 5.56 firearms. Each case contains clean-burning propellant and a noncorrosive Boxer primer, and is durable enough to be reloaded more times than you could count on one hand. The cases weren’t shined up after they were heat-treated, but that cosmetic difference has no bearing on performance at the range or on the reloading table.

This case of ammo contains exactly 600 bangs for your AR-15 rifle. Use those bangs to make yourself a better marksman at the range, or just to play around with your latest build in your backyard (assuming you live in the kind of place that tolerates backyard rifle use).

Winchester’s USA series 5.56x45 ammo is rudimentary – but that doesn’t mean it’s low-quality. Each cartridge in this case is loaded with a consistent 55 grain full metal jacket projectile, and achieves the 3,180 fps muzzle velocity a rifle needs to cycle reliably and spit out flat, accurate trajectories.

The FMJ will not expand inside of soft tissue, although its tendency to fragment following high-velocity impact would spell a difficult time for any threat you were forced to neutralize with this range ammo. This is nonmagnetic ammo: Those jackets are made of copper alloy, and their cores are solid lead.

Winchester’s new production ammo is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer-primed brass cases. These are not reloaded. They are discolored around their mouths, but that’s only because Winchester does not make their military grade cases pretty by polishing them.

Have you ever polished off a 100-round box of ammo and realized you were only 80% satisfied with the amount of shooting you just did? Then there’s only one solution: a 125-round box of ammo – ideally made in America, by no less than the American Legend itself!

Winchester manufactures this USA VALOR series ammo according to the U.S. Armed forces’ M193 specifications, which makes it the most basic kind of 5.56 on the market. Your AR ought to love feeding and firing this ammo’s 55 grain FMJ projectiles, which are both nonmagnetic and capable of terminal fragmentation following impact with soft tissue at high enough velocities (typically ~2,600 fps).

This new production ammunition is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer-primed military-grade brass cases. Winchester saves a step by not polishing the brass after it has been fortified via heat-treatment (aka annealing). Any discoloration you notice will have zero effect on performance. Part of Winchester’s proceeds from this ammo goes to Folds of Honor, a non-profit scholarship foundation for family members of fallen servicemen.

This high grade .223 Remington ammunition from Hornady is an excellent choice for discerning shooters who want better performance than what typical range fodder can provide, but don't want to spend large amounts on match-grade ammo.

Each round in this case of 500 (split into 10 boxes of 50 rounds each) fires a 55 grain boat-tailed full metal jacket bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3,240 feet per second. This produces ballistics similar to M193 ball ammo.

Hornady ammo is loaded in Grand Island, Nebraska and uses non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases.

Cost Per Round 65.0¢ per round

These .223 Remington rounds from Federal utilize many of the features that go into premium 5.56x45mm milspec rounds but without the increased cost. Each round is built using a reloadable brass casing mated to a non-corrosive Boxer primer via solid seating and primer sealant; this compound prevents moisture from penetrating through to reach the clean-burning propellant. The casings are also firmly crimped to the toothed cannelure of each bullet to prevent setback and optimize reliability.

The projectile used in this cartridge design is a non-penetrating, 62 grain full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) bullet that is not attracted to a magnet. The rear curvature of the FMJ-BT shape resists drag and is less susceptible to in-flight shift. This combines with a well-studied 62 grain weight to provide shooters with accurate and predictable ballistic performance. Federal's American Eagle line is intended to be a low-cost plinking solution that doesn't skip out on quality enhancements.

    Highly Recommend

PMC has very good quality control standards. This is very noticeable when you compare their ammo to other well known manufactures. PMC is clean, reliable and can easily be reloaded. I would highly recommend this ammo for the first time buyer to the more advanced tactical classes. I currently use this ammo for 3Gun Competitions and have shot out to 600 yards. I will definitely continue to buy this ammo.

Soft point cartridges are an economical yet highly effective choice for bringing down various types of game. This .223 Remington ammo from PMC is no exception, excelling in the field against coyote, hogs, and other animals due to its excellent expansion potential.

Each round in this bulk-priced case of 800 fires a 55 grain projectile. If your optics are sighted in with M193 ball or another comparable range load, you'll be able to use this load to hunt with little to no adjustment!

PMC ammo is made in South Korea using non-corrosive Boxer primers and brass cases.

When a 5.56x45 cartridge’s bullet is able to attract a magnet, that usually means it’s a cheapie from Russia. But that’s not the case with Winchester’s American-made 5.56x45 M855 ammo. This round’s bullet features a partial steel core, which enables it to reliably pass through sheet metal at ranges within 650 yards!

This round’s bullet weighs in at 62 grains, which is heavier than average for a 5.56 load. The bullet’s superior momentum confers a flatter trajectory, which is also better protected against the straying effects of crosswinds. An AR-15 or other rifle with a 1:9 or 1:8 rate of twist is ideal for a 62 grain load like this, but a faster twist won’t keep you from hitting your targets by any means.

This military-grade ammo is loaded with low-residue powder and non-corrosive Boxer primers, as well as newly produced brass cases. The reloadable brass cases weren’t polished before they were shipping out, which is why you can plainly see where they were heat-treated.

Target shooting can be real serious business. If you’re training for a dangerous job or trying to sharpen the skills you’d need to defend your family, you deserve ammo that really delivers. But you know what? If you just want to have a laugh with the boys while you’re plinking, you still deserve quality ammo.

Federal’s American Eagle 5.56x45? It delivers. Federal prefixes this ammo’s designation with an X to indicate that it’s made for the commercial market, but it truly is the same M193 spec ammo you’d be supplied with if you joined the Army. Each cartridge sports a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile, which is by far the most popular bullet for target shooting with an AR-style rifle. The bullet’s jacket ends in a non-expanding solid point, features a cannelure to prevent feeding issues, and is 100% steel-free and nonmagnetic.

This ammo’s cases are brand new. They weren’t polished after they were annealed, but they are just as reliable and reloadable as the shiniest cases on the market. This is new ammo – not military surplus – with noncorrosive Boxer primers and low-fouling powder.

Get a solid zero on your milspec AR using the ammo it was made to shoot with these M855 style 62 grain Green Tip rounds from PMC's X-TAC line; this line is known for following NATO specification to the letter. These 62 grain Light-Armor Penetrating (LAP) rounds work well with the most popular 1:9, 1:8, and 1:7 barrel twists of your favorite 5.56x45mm rifles. The bullets feature toothed cannelures that the manufacturer crimps to in order to prevent bullet setback. The cartridges are also constructed from reloadable, annealed brass casings and non-corrosive Boxer primers set in with sealant which keeps moisture from reaching the inside of the case.

PMC sources this ammo from South Korea where it is produced on the same time-proven machines that make ammo for the Korean military as well as for NATO territories. Many U.S. shooters love PMC ammo for its reliability, high quality construction, and affordable cost.

NOT for Indoor Ranges or Steel Targets

You can NOT shoot this ammo at an indoor range or steel targets because this ammo was made to penetrate steel. This ammo was clean, accurate and I have never had any malfunctions. I chronographed this ammo and the velocity was consistent. I would highly recommend and this brass is great for reloading, so make sure to collect it.

Twenty rounds. One magazine. This single box of 5.56x45 ammunition by Winchester is all you need to demonstrate your mastery of your AR-15 rifle – or save the day.

Winchester didn’t make this ammo for the military, but they did make it to the military’s M193 specifications. That means it has the 5.56’s traditional 55 grain FMJ bullet, which has a solid lead core and hard copper alloy jacket. This type of bullet is most popular for target shooting, although it’s not at all unsuitable for self-defense (it’s just not as effective as an expanding bullet like a soft point or polymer tip). This smooth-feeding bullet also features a cannelure, which keeps it right where it’s meant to be seated in its case.

That case is made of solid brass and has never before seen the light of day. You can see where its neck and shoulder were annealed, which is a heat-treatment process that makes brass more elastic. That’s why this ammo’s cases expand so reliably to seal the chamber during ignition, and also why they make great reloading components. This ammo is both nonmagnetic and non-corrosive for versatile and clean performance.

Winchester’s white box ammunition stands for consistent quality, reliable functionality, and American production values. So long as you have at least one rifle chambered for 5.56x45 or 223 Rem, you have every reason you need to order this bread and butter 223 Rem ammo.

Winchester loads this round with a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. It’s as elemental as AR-15 bullets come thanks to its solid lead core, gilding metal jacket, and absence of steel or any other metals which would have attracted a magnet. The bullet’s 0.274 G1 BC enables it to retain half of its original velocity at 530 yards, so you can look forward to a flat trajectory no matter your target’s range. The bullet’s cannelure ensures it stays seated at the right depth so you can avoid a failure to feed.

Winchester’s nonmagnetic ammunition is also non-corrosive and clean-burning. Its brass cases are furthermore brand new. These particular rounds’ new production cases have been fortified via heat treatment, but the annealing marks weren’t subsequently buffed out at the factory.

You won’t catch us complaining about getting 150 rounds of 223 Rem to a single box. That’s enough so we can spend hours meticulously lining up sniper shots, and it’s also spot on for exactly five 30-round mag dumps. Winchester USA 223 really is good for both occasions.

This is basic ammo as far as your AR-15 is concerned, and the foundation of any respectable arsenal. Each round wears a 55 grain bullet that rips out of the barrel at 3,240 fps. That’ll treat you to the flat trajectory the AR-15 is beloved for. The bullet has a full metal jacket, which keeps the lead in its core from touching the barrel and hardens the bullet to prevent deformation during ignition.

We don’t recommend the FMJ, which does not expand, for hunting. And as far as self-defense is concerned, there are better bullets for neutralizing a human-sized threat. But when such bullets are not available, you’ll find an eighth ounce of solid metal striking a target at nearly three times the speed of sound makes quite an impact whichever way you slice it.

A lot of folks look at this ammo’s brass cases and assume they’ve already been fired. But that isn’t the the situation! These military-grade cases are discolored because they’ve been annealed, which makes them more supple for better functionality. This reloadable ammo is also non-corrosive and nonmagnetic, so it offers great value, clean performance, and versatility when it comes to which indoor ranges you can train at.

Are you out of 223 Rem ammo? That’s the worst way you can be. Let us help you have a whole lot of 223 Rem ammo by shipping you a case of Winchester’s multi-talented Super-X! These uncomplicated cartridges will fully satisfy your expectations during target practice, and they’ll turn any varmint into buzzard bait just as effectively!

This cartridge features a boat tail hollow point (or hollow point boat tail – whichever you prefer). The small opening in the bullet’s tip won’t deliver significant terminal expansion. It is there because the bullet’s concentric copper-alloy jacket was created first, and subsequently filled with molten lead. The lead hardened to create a voidless, uniformly distributed core, which serves to keep the projectile balanced in flight. The bullet’s boat tail helps to decrease the amount of drag it stirs up in flight, which promotes a flatter and easier-to-aim trajectory – as well as greater energy transfer on impact.

This is newly manufactured ammunition, complete with noncorrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases. Don’t be put off by the cases’ grayish necks. The discoloration indicates that the cases were manufactured correctly – they simply weren’t buffed up after they were made suppler via heat-treatment.

There are two major kinds of magnetic bullets in this big, beautiful world of ammunition. The first are bullets with bimetal jackets. These are usually Russian in origin, and are manufactured for greater affordability. The second is the M855 bullet, which is not made to be cheap – it is built to penetrate.

This 5.56x45 round’s 62 grain bullet has a normal lead core and gilding metal jacket, but the green on its tip proves it is also packing seven grans of steel. The addition of steel makes the bullet a whole heck of a lot stronger, enabling it to punch through thin metal plating at close to medium range like it is made out of fondant icing.

Although a great option for recreational shooting with an AR-15, penetrator ammo also performs well for personal protection. That’s why sitting on these 150 rounds of 5.56 ammo by Winchester until a big emergency is a good idea.

This ammo is brass-cased, reloadable, Boxer-primed, magnetic, and non-corrosive.

Is the rifle range anywhere in your near future? Heck, even if you own an AR-15 and have no intention of firing it anytime soon, you’d do right to have a few boxes of Federal’s American Eagle label 223 Rem ammo ready to go. This is one of America’s favorite solutions for target practice!

This 223 cartridge is loaded to standard M193 specifications: 55 grain FMJ bullet, 3,240 fps muzzle velocity. Federal’s FMJ additionally features a boat tail – a tapering base that mitigates in-flight drag to increase the amount of velocity the bullet can retain downrange. With its ballistic coefficient of 0.269, a bullet like this easily flies faster than 1,900 fps when it passes 400 yards!

This is military-grade ammo, but it was specifically produced for the civilian market. You will notice that its brass cases are visibly annealed. The discoloration is purely cosmetic, and indicates that the brass was heat-treated so it can expand to seal the chamber more efficiently and return to its original dimensions following ignition. Federal’s Boxer primers and propellant are both clean-burning and intensely reliable. Stock up now – ammo like this goes fast!

This 223 Rem ammo by Hornady Frontier is designed solely around accuracy. No varmint, predator or home intruder would sign up to get hit by its heavyweight 68 grain projectile, of course, but sharpshooters will find this ammo of especial value at the rifle range!

This cartridge showcases Hornady’s own BTHP Match bullet. Its Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket possesses virtually zero flaws in its concentricity, and its form-fitted swaged lead core only serves to further heighten its rotational stability. The BTHP Match’s secant ogive profile also promotes better balance, and alongside its tapered base ensures the bullet retains sufficient momentum to achieve an impressive 0.355 G1 ballistic coefficient.

This round’s 2,960 fps muzzle velocity was recorded using a 24” barrel. A 1:8” twist barrel is optimal for a 68 grain bullet like this, but you’ll certainly get by with a 1:9” or 1:7” twist as well. Although a hollow point by design, the BTHP Match is not engineered to deliver terminal expansion.

This Frontier label ammo is loaded with military-grade brass cases, Boxer primers and clean-burning powder. The cases are brand new, visibly annealed and perfect for handloading!

Quite the handy case of AR ammo to have on hand courtesy of Federal, right here! This 223 Rem cartridge has a 75 grain bullet, which is a bit hefty for its caliber but for good reason: That weight improves its ability to resist the influence of cross and vertical winds as it makes its way far downrange.

This versatile bullet isn’t only suitable for sniping targets, either. Federal gave it a total metal jacket, which unlike an FMJ goes an additional length to cover the bullet’s base as well. That added protection prevents the ignition process from aerosolizing the lead inside the bullet, reducing the risk to your health.

An American Eagle round represents outstanding value. In addition to its nifty projectile, this cartridge gives you its high quality and reloadable brass casing, a clean burning propellant charge, and a primer that’s so sensitive it cries at the endings of romantic comedies.

This 5.56x45 cartridge represents an exciting partnership between Hornady, one of our country’s preeminent bullet manufacturers, and the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the U.S. Armed Forces’ largest producer of small arms ammo. Hornady crafted this M193 round its 55 grain projectile, and thus its uniform lead core is clad in a highly consistent full metal jacket. Its bullet’s symmetrical meplat and exceptional concentricity give this range load all the accuracy you need to enjoy rewarding practice with your rifle.

These rounds’ other components are all Lake City’s considerable doing. Their thoroughly standardized casings ensure seamless feeding and ejection as well as interchangeable performance, and their Boxer primers deliver reliable ignition and are non-corrosive. Lake City’s optimized production process and staggering output capacity have made these rounds very affordable given just how well made they are, and that Hornady subjected these rounds to their own unequaled quality assurance protocol means few others stand to be compared to them.

As such, these affordable .223 Remington rounds will make a great choice for feeding your custom AR, stock Mini-14, or any appropriately chambered rifle in between. Each round is put together using a reloadable brass casing that has been checked over for proper dimensions for strength. The case hosts a non-corrosive Boxer primer which sends a spark to a clean-burning measure of propellant.

Each round utilizes a 55-grain soft point projectile which is weighted to match numerous training loads for both .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm; this allows shooters to use a preestablished zero while enjoying fairly comfortable recoil while hunting. The soft point bullet has a bare lead nose which expands upon impact with a target, causing the round to flatten out its tip for calculated yawing and slight tumbling.

No matter how you like to shoot, this 223 Rem cartridge by Federal is going to make you a happy shooter indeed! Its bullet is a TMJ -- no, not the painful jaw disorder, but a total metal jacket! Such a jacket prevents ignition from evaporating the bullet’s core, so if you’re taking your AR-15 indoors this round’s a good investment in your lungs’ health. The bullet is also heavy for its caliber, which means if you shoot long distance you’ll enjoy shots that better resist wind drift as well. Good for a rainy day, and good for a nice day too!

Federal knows brass inside and out, so they’ve precision formed these rounds’ casings to be uniform, sturdy, and perfectly reloadable. This high velocity helps promote rapid fragmentation for efficient kills against small animals; the fast disintegration of the projectile also reduces the risk of overpenetration and ricochets.

Based in Ozark, Missouri, Fiocchi of America is the US division of Fiocchi Munizioni SPA, which was founded in Italy in 1876. In addition, each casing is crimped to each bullets' toothed cannelure in order to prevent projectile setback which can spoil accuracy at best and induce a misfire or malfunction at worst.

The HP Match is also extremely sleek, from its narrow meplat to its secant ogive geometry to its sloping boat tail.

This round’s HP Match bursts out of a 24” barrel at a velocity of 3,240 fps. So well-balanced and streamlined a bullet exhibits a G1 BC of 0.254, and can be counted on to remain supersonic beyond 700 yards. Whether you’re shooting targets or varmints, so flat a trajectory is certain to come in very handy.
