223 (5.56) Ammo

.223 Remington ammunition and 5.56x45 NATO are closely related and sometimes interchangeable cartridges depending on the firearm they are to be used with. Manufacturers typically offer guidance on this point. In general, the 5.56 NATO ammunition the military uses and is for sale to the civilian market operates at higher pressures than .223 Remington ammo. Most, but not all, AR-15s are chambered for 5.56 NATO and can fire both types of ammo.

Many loads in both calibers follow the M193 or M855 standard, both of which are military specifications. M193 ammo typically fires a 55 grain full metal jacket bullet at 3,240 feet per second, while M855 ammo fires a heavier 62 grain FMJ bullet at about 3,100 feet per second. These common standards are very helpful when sighting in your optics and you'll find both cartridges in-stock and available in cheap bulk packs here at Widener's

Certain specialized loads deviate from these common standards. Competition grade .223/5.56 ammo fires a heavier bullet (most commonly a Sierra MatchKing) in the 77 grain range to provide better stability and more predictable trajectories; varmint loads, on the other hand, fire light 30-40 grain bullets at very high velocities to produce lethal fragmentation against pest animals.

One of the most sought after range loads for this caliber is Lake City ammunition, which is produced by Federal Premium Ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. LCAAP production is typically excess from government contracts and is popular due to its military origins and high quality.

Load up on some high quality, low cost ammunition for your favorite AR or other .223/5.56mm caliber rifle. PMC Bronze ammunition comes from South Korea out of the some of the most sophisticated and efficient manufacturing plants. A length of experience producing ammunition for NATO countries as well as adherence to U.S. standard tolerances has a resulted in inexpensive ammo with high reliability.

These cartridges are constructed using reloadable brass casings fitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers and topped by full metal jacket boat-tail (FMJ-BT) bullets. The bullets weigh in at 55 grains which is a standard across the board for the caliber and will stabilize with the widest ranges of barrel lengths and twists. In addition, the boat tail tapered rear of the bullet reduces drag and increases accuracy. This bulk pack of 1,000 rounds is great to stock up on for matches and classes and has been specifically recommended by some training companies like the United States Shooting Academy (USSA).

Ammo was nicely boxed and performed great.

It was low priced. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was boxed well in 20 round boxes and it looked great. Performed well too, just as all remington ammo has in the past. I like the brass, its a little heavier than other makes and reloads well.

    Excellent ammo for the price

Excellent ammo for the price. Runs very good and clean, no problems with whatsoever.

Review by Madmax (Posted on 9/19/2016)

    even better than expected

I was looking for better accuracy than I'd found with _ _ _ _ M193 type ammo and reviews indicated the PMC was the answer. Bought a case to function test a new M-4(gery) for another shooter. This ammo is topnotch-more accurate than the carbine's owner can utilize. I just wish I'd bought two cases and kept one.

Great ammo with a great price!

Great price for 1000 rounds. 200 rounds through my Daniel Defense so far and had no problems. Need to order more before Jan 1 since I'm in CA.

200 Rounds Fired So Far: 0 Complaints

The ammo came in a convenient packaging of 20 rd boxes. Convenient to load two mags of 10 rd each (in the pathetic state of CT, that's all we're allowed). No issues with the firing or ejection. Tight grouping at 25 yards after sighting in. Haven't tried 100 yards yet. No complaints

Review by p-chip (Posted on 7/17/2016)

    Good quality, great price

Good quality ammo, runs great, never had an issue, run it in AR and COLT M-16 in full auto.

Review by randall (Posted on 5/18/2016)

Fired 3000+ Rounds, not a single issue

PMC Bronze is great ammo. Im on my fourth case right now, and I love it. Zero failures. With my Daniel Defense 16" Carbine and an ACOG I was effortlessly hitting 24" square steel at 500yds with 55gr! I prefer it to other ammo as most other brand 5.56 has the dirty looking annealing burn marks on the neck of the cartridge, but PMC takes the time to polish that off. It doesnt affect function of course, but it is a really nice touch. Quality ammo, buy with confidence.

ZSR Patlayıcı Sanayi A.Ş. is one of Turkey’s largest explosives and ammunition manufacturers. If you’re looking for proper 5.56x45 ammo for training, plinking, or stashing away in preparation for a rainy day, then we’ve got just the 900-round flat you’re after!

This cartridge’s 55 grain full metal jacket bullet and ~3,240 fps muzzle velocity are all that it needs to qualify as M193. In other words, this is essentially the same kind of ammo the U.S. Army would give you free of charge in exchange for at least two years of your life.

Worried about whether you can take this ammo to a commercial range? Then your worries are – poof – gone. ZSR’s FMJ does not have a steel core or bimetal jacket, so it’s ready to rock wherever magnetic ammo is banned. ZSR creates even greater value by exclusively loading noncorrosive Boxer primers, as well as shiny brass cases that have never before occupied a rifle’s chamber.

Although it performs nearly identically to their premiere Exacta line of ammunition, Fiocchi’s Shooting Dynamics ammo is priced so you can train longer and get more out of your trips to the range. These 1,000 rounds are not remotely wanting in the quality department -- their brass casings are fresh from the factory (possibly in Italy, more likely in Ozark, MO), their Boxer primers are responsive and non-corrosive, and their propellant is clean burning and matched to deliver a consistent chamber pressure, shot after shot.

This M193 Ball round boasts a 55 grain projectile with a full metal jacket, so it’ll feed without issue in your AR-15 and penetrate even unconventional plinking targets. The bullet further features a boat tail design, so its ballistic coefficient is high to give it a flattened trajectory, lower sensitivity to crosswinds, and the ability to retain a better part of its velocity downrange.

Want to fire your AR-15 all day, every day, until the time? Then we got great news for you: you can! All you’ll need is a whole bunch of 5.56x45 ammunition … let’s say at least 540 rounds!

Old Army is the American company that put their label on this ammo, but it’s actually made in Macedonia by ATS Ammunition. They’re a sizeable outfit with over 500 employees and 1 million square feet of manufacturing space. They use it all to make good ammo components!

Case in point: the 55 grain lead-core full metal jacket, which has the strong copper-alloy jacket it needs to (A) chamber reliably, (B) resist deformation during ignition, and (C) avoid attracting a magnet altogether. At 3,240 fps, the 55gr FMJ’s muzzle velocity is just right to earn this round its M193 designation.

This non-surplus ammo is loaded with noncorrosive Boxer primers, which are sealed to provide a little extra welcome protection against the elements. Are its cases reloaded? No sir! They’re fresh out of the factory and ready for action in your rifle’s action.

Winchester’s USA label doesn’t just stand for American-made. It stands for consistent quality and satisfying target-grade accuracy that you’ll want to take with you whenever you visit the range.

Winchester manufactures their white box ammo specifically for the civilian shooter. They did load this 5.56x45 ammo to our military’s M193 specifications, however, which means it offers the same kind of performance which most veterans of the Armed Forces must already be familiar with.

This cartridge has a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. At that weight it achieves a steady 3,180 fps muzzle velocity, which will keep it traveling at supersonic speed until around 700 yards – well beyond the 5.56’s effective range. The FMJ’s hard jacket promotes positive functioning in a semi-auto courtesy of its ability to feed smoothly and prevent rapid fouling. This round’s FMJ cannot expand inside soft tissue, although it may fragment apart at higher velocities.

This ammo also sports virgin brass cases. You will notice that they are discolored in the areas where they were annealed, which indicates that the brass is elastic enough to return to its original dimensions after ignition. Alongside their non-corrosive Boxer primers, that makes this ammo’s cases perfect for handloaders.

The X-TAC line from PMC more closely follows the same specifications used for manufacturing military grade ammunition. As a result, this 1000 bulk pack of 5.56mm has a few features that you won't find in usual lots of inexpensive ammo. These XP193 rounds are great for rainy day storage, high round count classes, practice sessions, fun plinking, and building a ballistic chart close to NATO-spec M193.

Like M193, these XP193 rounds feature 55 grain bullets which are compatible with the widest range of barrel lengths and twists of AR, SCAR, ACR, and other 5.56x45mm chambered rifles. The full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) projectiles feature a toothed cannelure which prevents round setback during rough handling or repeated loading and live ejection; bullet setback can affect accuracy or even cause catastrophic firearm failure. In addition, the reloadable brass casings have a consistent coat of sealant surrounding their non-corrosive Boxer primers which prevents moisture from entering the cartridge and creating dud rounds. The casings are also annealed for added strength to prevent pressure-induced malfunctions and guarantee long brass life for reloaders.

PMC ammunition is produced in South Korea on some of the same tooling and machines used to supply NATO countries with war-fighting ammo. These bulk packs are highly regarded among American shooters for their inexpensive cost, high reliability, and adherence to M193 specification.

We have verified that this is in fact 5.56x45mm M193 ammunition. The labels on the boxes are just misprinted.

How much 5.56x45 ammo do you really need? As much as you can get your hands on! And a good place to start is with a case or two of Prvi Partizan’s M193 ball ammo, which is loaded for the commercial market according to the U.S. military’s very own specifications!

This Serbian AR-15 ammo is loaded with 55 grain FMJBT projectiles. The bullet’s gilding metal jacket ensures smooth and clean performance, but inhibits any kind of terminal expansion. (A bullet like this will fragment inside of soft tissue following close-to-medium range impact, however.) The FMJBT’s boat tail helps the bullet reduce in-flight drag, thus enabling it to retain more velocity, fly flatter and strike its target with greater energy.

Prvi Partizan’s ammo is completely nonmagnetic. Not only are their bullets devoid of any steel, but their reloadable cases are also made of solid brass. These rounds’ Boxer primers are just as non-corrosive as what you should expect from an American manufacturer, and they are additionally sealed.

Winchester has been making ammunition for over 150 years now. They can’t claim to have made 5.56x45 ammo for quite that long (for reasons we hope we don’t have to explain), but they’ve certainly mastered all the ins and outs of America’s favorite centerfire cartridge!

This is Winchester’s most fundamental kind of 5.56, and therefore absolutely perfect for casual and serious target shooting alike. The M193 spec cartridge sports a 55 grain projectile, which is light enough to achieve a muzzle velocity that is just shy of three times faster than the speed of sound. The full metal jacket projectile’s economical design makes it optimal for high-volume shooting, yet it still provides the consistent accuracy discerning marksmen demand. The non-expanding solid point FMJ is made of lead and copper, thus making this ammo absolutely nonmagnetic.

This ammo’s military-grade brass cases are reloadable, and they have never before seen the light of day. They’re not grayish around their necks because they have previously been fired, but rather because they weren’t polished after they were made more durable via annealing. Noncorrosive Boxer-primed, clean-shooting, and packaged 50 boxes per case of 1,000!

We dream of a world … a perfect world, where no AR-15 enthusiast ever has to go without the 5.56x45 ammo they need for training, target shooting, plinking and crisis preparation. Unfortunately, that perfect world may never come to be. But have we lost heart? Never! Because so long as Winchester loads 5.56, any shooter can stock up in a big way.

You could join the Army if you wanted M193 spec ammo, but Winchester has made getting your hands on it slightly easier. These rounds are topped off with full metal jackets: each 55 grains, and due to attain a muzzle velocity of 3,180 fps in conjunction with a 20” barrel. The nonmagnetic flat base bullet’s 0.250 G1 BC reflects its ability to reach a 200-yard zero in less than one quarter of one second, and then drop by -7.38” at 300 yards. That flat trajectory is just one of the reasons why so many folks love and swear by the good ol’ five-five-six.

Winchester doesn’t shine up this reloadable ammo’s brass cases after annealing them. That just means you can see the discoloration which proves they were properly heat-treated. Throw in Winchester’s corrosion-free Boxer primers, and you’re in for a real smooth ride.

This is a two-box case of ammo: 500 rounds per case, each weighing 13.3 pounds.

All hail the white box! Winchester’s American-made USA 223 Rem ammunition is ready for action in any firearm that can handle it – which quite naturally includes any 5.56x45 carbine you might be itching to take out to the range.

This cartridge is loaded with a 62 grain full metal jacket bullet. It is not an M855 projectile, and therefore can’t attract a magnet. Very useful if you want the full M855 experience at a range where the staff will bonk you over the head for firing magnetic ammo! The heavier bullet’s lower 3,100 fps muzzle velocity is well worth the price of a trajectory that exhibits better resistance to interference from crosswinds.

This ammo’s nicely polished Boxer-primed brass cases should serve you quite well if you’re intent on handloading every cartridge that enters your possession. Check out our awesome selection of .224” bullets if you’re fixing on reloading this ammo!

Get your fill of M855 style ammo with this 1000 round bulk pack of PMC's X-TAC NATO 5.56mm. Just like milspec M855, these rounds use 62 grain bullets with light-amor penetrating* steel tips which are painted green for easy identification. As a result, these rounds will match ballistic tables and ballistic drop compensation (BDC) reticles commonly used with modern low power scopes. The reloadable brass casings are annealed at the neck and shoulder for added strength (useful to reloaders) while the non-corrosive Boxer primers are bordered by moisture-blocking sealant. The bullets are full metal jacket (FMJ) and possess toothed cannelures to prevent projectile setback.

PMC is a South Korean based company that sources its ammunition from plants that supply to the ROK military as well as other to other NATO countries. Their X-TAC line is highly regarded for adhering to stringent military specification while still maintaining an inexpensive price for all shooters.

*While this is not armor-penetrating ammunition by definition, some ranges will not allow these rounds to be fired indoors nor outdoors on certain steel targets.

    Best M855 I’ve shot

I’ve purchased dozens of cases of PMC XTAC M855 because they shoot great in both my 16” 1:7 spin carbine and my 20” 1;9 barrels. Also, they have EXCELLENT brass cases for reloading and last many reloads/firing cycles.
If you want to store these long term, they are sealed completely and should last for decades if stored in a clean sealed container.
BTW, when I started buying these ~10 years ago, they $.17/rnd. Save your brass even if you don’t reload yourself.

    Best M855 round

This is the best M855 ammo I've ever bought. It's not second class or third class M855 like what Lake City is that the public can purchase. PMC sale first rate M855 to the public at a fair price and it's very clean brass.

We’re not saying that this is exactly the same 5.56x45mm ammo you’d receive if you went ahead and joined the South Korean military. That said, it is made by PMC – the South Korean military’s chief ammo supplier – and it’s certainly packaged like PMC intended it for the front line.

Make no mistake, though: This is brand new ammo. It’s noncorrosive, it’s nonmagnetic, and its reloadable brass cases have never before sparkled in the light of day. Very nice! Each round is armed with the target shooter’s preferred 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail projectile. PMC recorded its 3,270 fps muzzle velocity and 0.243 G1 ballistic coefficient with a 20” barrel; aim to 100 yards through 1.5” sights, and drop at 200 yards will be approximately -2.6”.

This ammo is packaged in a new M2A1 ammo can, which will keep its contents fresh and ready for action pretty much indefinitely. One can contains six bandoliers, each of which holds 14 clips. And just like your favorite breakfast cereal from back when you were a kid, there’s a free spoon inside the box!

Rootin tootin cotton-pickin lyin cheatin varmint! Your days are numbered, because we’re shipping out entires cases of Winchester’s Varmint X series 223 Rem ammo! This cartridge delivers the primo accuracy and devastating terminal fragmentation that put a fast end to any meddlesome varmint’s days here on earth.

This round’s bullet weighs only 40 grains, so it tears out of the barrel at a rate of 3,600 fps. That’s about 10 percent faster than your standard 55gr load, so you’re going to notice a significantly flatter trajectory. The bullet’s streamlined polymer tip and flat base both enhance its accuracy even further, so you’ll have the precision you need to pick off small and elusive beasts.

This bullet’s polymer tip is positioned to completely disrupt its thin copper jacket and solid lead core on impact. Its metallic components turn into sharp shrapnel and burst outward during penetration – bomb-like terminal ballistics that absolutely devastate small game!

This brass-cased, noncorrosive, Boxer-primed and clean-firing ammo is made in America and comes 10 boxes to a case. Great for hunting with 5.56 AR-style rifles and any other 5.56/223 device you could name!

Has your AR-15’s barrel been cold for way, way too long? We hate to hear it! That’s why we’ve got just the thing in store to warm it up: 800 rounds of Winchester’s American-made 5.56x45, packaged in four easy to transport boxes. If you bring all this goodness to the range, then you’d might as well pack a lunch while you’re at it!

This ammo’s all about target practice. Its 55 grain bullet and clean-burning powder grant it a muzzle velocity of 3,270 fps – extremely normal for the 5.56x45, and exactly the kind of performance semi-automatic rifles are designed to operate around. You can fall back on ammo like this for home defense should the need ever arise, and you don’t have to worry about its steel-free bullets if you patronize a range with a magnetic ammo ban in effect.

Winchester equips their standard target loads with non-corrosive Boxer primers and freshly drawn and cut brass cases. This is not factory remanufactured ammunition, nor is it military surplus. Any discoloration on its cases is the purely cosmetic result of annealing, a heat-treatment process which yields stronger, more reliable brass.

This 5.56x45 ammo by Winchester is magnetic. That’s not because Winchester sought to cut down on production costs by implementing bimetal jackets, but rather because they manufactured these rounds according to M855 specifications!

Each cartridge sports a 62 grain penetrator bullet. Its tip is only green because it is painted, not made of polymer. That indicates the front end of its core is made of pure steel. Steel hardens the bullet’s tip substantially, giving the shooter a huge advantage when he wants to penetrate sheet metal.

Magnetic bullets are not permitted at some indoor ranges because the steel inside them could create sparks or damage range equipment. You’ll want to call ahead to check a range’s policy on magnetic ammo before you take M855 to their premises. Steel can also cause a ricochet, making this ammo a poor choice for tactical training with steel targets!

Our customers are often concerned about the appearance of this ammo’s cases. To be certain, this is not reloaded ammo – the manufacturer just skipped buffing out the grayness on the cases after heat-treating them.

    Customer Reviews

    Good buy

4 stars on the quality because some of the bullet cases were crushed/deformed. Otherwise great.

PMC serves two purposes: making ammo for the South Korean military, and making money for its South Korean stakeholders. This 5.56x45 ammo was created for the latter purpose. It’s brand new, noncorrosive, and ready to rock range targets’ socks off.

You can call it LAP, SS109, F1, or M855. It’s all essentially the same thing: loaded with a 62 grain full metal jacket that contains a half-steel core. Unlike SS109 or F1, this round’s LAP bullet wears the same green paint on its tip as the M855.

What’s the point of the steel tip? LAP: light armor piercing. The bullet’s hard tip isn’t guaranteed to bore through steel plate, although it is more effective at its intended application than conventional FMJ ball.

If you’re new to M855 (or any other variant of “penetrator” ammo), please understand that it’s (A) banned at many indoor ranges, and (B) destructive to steel targets. Most folks who prefer M855 appreciate the ballistic advantages of the heavier bullet weight, such as higher resistance to wind deflection.

Can’t hate packaging like this: 10 rounds per stripper clip, 14 stripper clips per bandolier, 6 bandoliers per military-grade M2A1 steel ammo can. Set it aside indefinitely – or open it right away, even if you just want to get your hands on the included spoon.

Sometimes you just don’t need ammunition with lots of fancy bells and whistles. This 223 Rem ammo by Browning is simple, budget-friendly and reliable enough to be of great use for any kind of training, target shooting or plinking applications.

This cartridge is corked with a 55 grain FMJ – the most basic kind of projectile it’s possible for the 223 Rem to have. The FMJ’s gilding metal jacket promotes smooth feeding and slow barrel fouling, and its shank is girdled by a toothed cannelure to ward off setback in the magazine. We recommend this bullet for target shooting, but it’s sure to give small critters a really tough time too. Most importantly, this round’s bullet is completely nonmagnetic, so you have free license to take this ammo to any range of your choosing.

Browning’s clean-burning powder and non-corrosive Boxer primers both do their parts to keep a rifle in better working order. Their brass cases are also freshly manufactured. Pay no mind to the cases’ discolored necks and shoulders – that’s just a harmless byproduct of the annealing process which strengthens brass.

You won’t catch us complaining about getting 150 rounds of 223 Rem to a single box. That’s enough so we can spend hours meticulously lining up sniper shots, and it’s also spot on for exactly five 30-round mag dumps. Winchester USA 223 really is good for both occasions.

This is basic ammo as far as your AR-15 is concerned, and the foundation of any respectable arsenal. Each round wears a 55 grain bullet that rips out of the barrel at 3,240 fps. That’ll treat you to the flat trajectory the AR-15 is beloved for. The bullet has a full metal jacket, which keeps the lead in its core from touching the barrel and hardens the bullet to prevent deformation during ignition.

We don’t recommend the FMJ, which does not expand, for hunting. And as far as self-defense is concerned, there are better bullets for neutralizing a human-sized threat. But when such bullets are not available, you’ll find an eighth ounce of solid metal striking a target at nearly three times the speed of sound makes quite an impact whichever way you slice it.

A lot of folks look at this ammo’s brass cases and assume they’ve already been fired. But that isn’t the the situation! These military-grade cases are discolored because they’ve been annealed, which makes them more supple for better functionality. This reloadable ammo is also non-corrosive and nonmagnetic, so it offers great value, clean performance, and versatility when it comes to which indoor ranges you can train at.

This 5.56x45mm cartridge is from Fiocchi’s Shooting Dynamics line of ammunition, and accordingly will deliver high performance out of your rifle without breaking the bank. The Italian manufacturer pours intense quality into each of their rounds’ components, so this one’s factory fresh brass casing, sensitive and non-corrosive primer, and clean burning propellant are all poised to make your precious time at the range as rewarding as can be.

This is an M193 cartridge, the same type that is commonly issued for field use in the M16A1 rifle. Its lead alloy core is wrapped in a gilded metal jacket, so it can penetrate many types of common barriers and prevent excessive fouling from quickly impacting your firearm’s accuracy. This bullet further features a tapered base, and as the result is highly accurate courtesy of its flattened trajectory, ability to resist the influence of cross winds, and tendency to keep much of its velocity even after having flown far downrange.

This case of ammo contains exactly 600 bangs for your AR-15 rifle. Use those bangs to make yourself a better marksman at the range, or just to play around with your latest build in your backyard (assuming you live in the kind of place that tolerates backyard rifle use).

Winchester’s USA series 5.56x45 ammo is rudimentary – but that doesn’t mean it’s low-quality. Each cartridge in this case is loaded with a consistent 55 grain full metal jacket projectile, and achieves the 3,180 fps muzzle velocity a rifle needs to cycle reliably and spit out flat, accurate trajectories.

The FMJ will not expand inside of soft tissue, although its tendency to fragment following high-velocity impact would spell a difficult time for any threat you were forced to neutralize with this range ammo. This is nonmagnetic ammo: Those jackets are made of copper alloy, and their cores are solid lead.

Winchester’s new production ammo is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer-primed brass cases. These are not reloaded. They are discolored around their mouths, but that’s only because Winchester does not make their military grade cases pretty by polishing them.

If you’ve got an AR-15, then you know how quickly the little thing can gobble up ammo. Keeping it in good supply of the stuff can be a challenge -- it’s not uncommon for an AR-15 owner to feel like a mother bird that has to perpetually stick worms down its fledgling’s gullet. When you need high quality rounds, you can always bank on Hornady. The old Nebraskan master has one of the tightest quality assurance protocols that we know about, and that really shows in their products’ consistently great performance.

This 223 Rem cartridge has a 55 grain projectile. The bullet’s jacket is drawn extremely concentrically, which along with its fast 3,240 fps muzzle velocity assures a flat and accurate trajectory. This bullet’s jacket further serves to promote certain feeding through a semi-automatic, and to prevent rapid fouling within the bore as well. This round’s military grade primer and propellant both burn clean to preserve a rifle’s action, and its brand new brass casing is ready for multiple trips across the reloading bench.

These .223 Remington rounds from Federal utilize many of the features that go into premium 5.56x45mm milspec rounds but without the increased cost. Each round is built using a reloadable brass casing mated to a non-corrosive Boxer primer via solid seating and primer sealant; this compound prevents moisture from penetrating through to reach the clean-burning propellant. The casings are also firmly crimped to the toothed cannelure of each bullet to prevent setback and optimize reliability.

The projectile used in this cartridge design is a non-penetrating, 62 grain full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) bullet that is not attracted to a magnet. The rear curvature of the FMJ-BT shape resists drag and is less susceptible to in-flight shift. This combines with a well-studied 62 grain weight to provide shooters with accurate and predictable ballistic performance. Federal's American Eagle line is intended to be a low-cost plinking solution that doesn't skip out on quality enhancements.

Do you frequent a rifle range that forbids magnetic ammunition on its premises, but still want to fire 5.56x45 M855 ammunition? Lo and behold – the perfect substitute, courtesy of Fiocchi! This Missouri-made 223 Rem range ammunition is loaded with 62 grain bullets and delivers a muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps. Those stats make this nonmagnetic ammo’s ballistic performance almost indistinguishable from that of our military’s penetrator load!

This round’s bullet is more than just nonmagnetic. As a full metal jacket boat tail it features a slightly tapered base which minimizes drag to help conserve downrange momentum, an evenly distributed jacket and core which assure satisfactory in-flight stability, and a ballistically efficient solid point profile. Don’t expect terminal expansion from an FMJBT – but don’t expect a varmint to survive an encounter with one, either.

Fiocchi fits each one of these rounds with a virgin brass case, noncorrosive Boxer primer and charge of low-residue propellant. A swell choice for any 5.56/223 rifle, semi-automatic or otherwise!

PMC has very good quality control standards. This is very noticeable when you compare their ammo to other well known manufactures. PMC is clean, reliable and can easily be reloaded. I would highly recommend this ammo for the first time buyer to the more advanced tactical classes. I currently use this ammo for 3Gun Competitions and have shot out to 600 yards. Regular old ball ammo is all well and good for the rifle range. But when your aim is to cut down a buck or a hog with your trusty 223 Rem rifle, an FMJ just ain’t gonna cut it. You need ammo with bullets that can deliver terminal expansion – nothing less than PMC Bronze, in fact!

This ammo hails from the nation of South Korea, and it’s loaded with a medium game hunter’s best friend: the pointed soft point bullet. Each 55 grain PSP attains a consistent muzzle velocity of ~3,200 fps upon clearing a 24” barrel, which is why its ballistic performance is not at all unlike that of a conventional FMJ. But thanks to its lead tip, the PSP is able to follow up impact with fast positive expansion. Shot placement always counts, but you can rest assured the PSP’s terminal ballistics will get the job done right.

PMC loads ammo with the same kinds of components you’d expect from any American manufacturer. That includes steel-free nonmagnetic projectiles, virgin reloadable brass cases, and Boxer primers that cannot produce corrosive residue. Order your case of 10 boxes today and have at it!

Get a solid zero on your milspec AR using the ammo it was made to shoot with these M855 style 62 grain Green Tip rounds from PMC's X-TAC line; this line is known for following NATO specification to the letter. These 62 grain Light-Armor Penetrating (LAP) rounds work well with the most popular 1:9, 1:8, and 1:7 barrel twists of your favorite 5.56x45mm rifles. The bullets feature toothed cannelures that the manufacturer crimps to in order to prevent bullet setback. The cartridges are also constructed from reloadable, annealed brass casings and non-corrosive Boxer primers set in with sealant which keeps moisture from reaching the inside of the case.

PMC sources this ammo from South Korea where it is produced on the same time-proven machines that make ammo for the Korean military as well as for NATO territories. Many U.S. shooters love PMC ammo for its reliability, high quality construction, and affordable cost.

NOT for Indoor Ranges or Steel Targets

You can NOT shoot this ammo at an indoor range or steel targets because this ammo was made to penetrate steel. This ammo was clean, accurate and I have never had any malfunctions. I chronographed this ammo and the velocity was consistent. I would highly recommend and this brass is great for reloading, so make sure to collect it.

Winchester’s white box ammunition stands for consistent quality, reliable functionality, and American production values. So long as you have at least one rifle chambered for 5.56x45 or 223 Rem, you have every reason you need to order this bread and butter 223 Rem ammo.

Winchester loads this round with a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. It’s as elemental as AR-15 bullets come thanks to its solid lead core, gilding metal jacket, and absence of steel or any other metals which would have attracted a magnet. The bullet’s 0.274 G1 BC enables it to retain half of its original velocity at 530 yards, so you can look forward to a flat trajectory no matter your target’s range. The bullet’s cannelure ensures it stays seated at the right depth so you can avoid a failure to feed.

Winchester’s nonmagnetic ammunition is also non-corrosive and clean-burning. Its brass cases are furthermore brand new. These particular rounds’ new production cases have been fortified via heat treatment, but the annealing marks weren’t subsequently buffed out at the factory.

Is the rifle range anywhere in your near future? Heck, even if you own an AR-15 and have no intention of firing it anytime soon, you’d do right to have a few boxes of Federal’s American Eagle label 223 Rem ammo ready to go. This is one of America’s favorite solutions for target practice!

This 223 cartridge is loaded to standard M193 specifications: 55 grain FMJ bullet, 3,240 fps muzzle velocity. Federal’s FMJ additionally features a boat tail – a tapering base that mitigates in-flight drag to increase the amount of velocity the bullet can retain downrange. With its ballistic coefficient of 0.269, a bullet like this easily flies faster than 1,900 fps when it passes 400 yards!

This is military-grade ammo, but it was specifically produced for the civilian market. You will notice that its brass cases are visibly annealed. The discoloration is purely cosmetic, and indicates that the brass was heat-treated so it can expand to seal the chamber more efficiently and return to its original dimensions following ignition. Federal’s Boxer primers and propellant are both clean-burning and intensely reliable. Stock up now – ammo like this goes fast!

Twenty rounds. One magazine. This single box of 5.56x45 ammunition by Winchester is all you need to demonstrate your mastery of your AR-15 rifle – or save the day.

Winchester didn’t make this ammo for the military, but they did make it to the military’s M193 specifications. That means it has the 5.56’s traditional 55 grain FMJ bullet, which has a solid lead core and hard copper alloy jacket. This type of bullet is most popular for target shooting, although it’s not at all unsuitable for self-defense (it’s just not as effective as an expanding bullet like a soft point or polymer tip). This smooth-feeding bullet also features a cannelure, which keeps it right where it’s meant to be seated in its case.

That case is made of solid brass and has never before seen the light of day. You can see where its neck and shoulder were annealed, which is a heat-treatment process that makes brass more elastic. That’s why this ammo’s cases expand so reliably to seal the chamber during ignition, and also why they make great reloading components. This ammo is both nonmagnetic and non-corrosive for versatile and clean performance.

This 223 Rem ammo by Hornady Frontier is designed solely around accuracy. No varmint, predator or home intruder would sign up to get hit by its heavyweight 68 grain projectile, of course, but sharpshooters will find this ammo of especial value at the rifle range!

This cartridge showcases Hornady’s own BTHP Match bullet. Its Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket possesses virtually zero flaws in its concentricity, and its form-fitted swaged lead core only serves to further heighten its rotational stability. The BTHP Match’s secant ogive profile also promotes better balance, and alongside its tapered base ensures the bullet retains sufficient momentum to achieve an impressive 0.355 G1 ballistic coefficient.

This round’s 2,960 fps muzzle velocity was recorded using a 24” barrel. A 1:8” twist barrel is optimal for a 68 grain bullet like this, but you’ll certainly get by with a 1:9” or 1:7” twist as well. Although a hollow point by design, the BTHP Match is not engineered to deliver terminal expansion.

This Frontier label ammo is loaded with military-grade brass cases, Boxer primers and clean-burning powder. The cases are brand new, visibly annealed and perfect for handloading!

This Frontier label 223 Rem ammunition by Hornady is great for all the long-distance shooters out there. It showcases the Nebraskan master’s HP Match, which is basically 55 grains of nothing but accuracy-enhancing features.

The HP Match’s swaged lead core is highly uniform, and doesn’t possess air pockets that could impact its balance. Its AMP jacket is drawn with virtually zero runout or variations in its wall thickness. The HP Match is also extremely sleek, from its narrow meplat to its secant ogive geometry to its sloping boat tail.

This round’s HP Match bursts out of a 24” barrel at a velocity of 3,240 fps. So well-balanced and streamlined a bullet exhibits a G1 BC of 0.254, and can be counted on to remain supersonic beyond 700 yards. Whether you’re shooting targets or varmints, so flat a trajectory is certain to come in very handy.

The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant loads this AR-15 ammo. Widener’s customers who can’t get enough brass are sure to find a good use for this ammo’s new production cases, which are visibly annealed and long-lasting. Lake City’s military-grade primers, propellant and loading practices deliver reliable performance however you shoot!

Are you out of 223 Rem ammo? We hate to hear it. But we also love to hear it, because that means you have a perfect opportunity to give Hornady BLACK a college try. Designed in Nebraska to work without fail in all makes, models and styles of 223/5.56 firearms, these range loads are sure to treat you to loads of fun!

This cartridge’s bullet weighs 62 grains, but make no mistake: neither its lead core nor its copper-alloy jacket contain one iota of steel. The nonmagnetic bullet does achieve a muzzle velocity of 3,100 fps, however, which makes its ballistic performance not totally unlike that of the U.S. Army’s 5.56 M855 round. If you fire the FMJ out of the 24” barrel it needs to reach its posted muzzle velocity, then its 0.274 G1 BC will enable it to fly to 200 yards without going higher than 2.3” above the bore line (and that’s not taking sight height into account). The slightly heavier bullet will give you a welcome advantage if you have to deal with wind deflection!

Each BLACK round comes to the party with a virgin polished brass case – just swell if you love handloading every empty shell you come across – as well as a clean-sparking primer/propellant combo. Ten boxes per case. Order today! Time and tide wait for no man.

Hornady’s Frontier line of ammunition is all about versatility. They boast, rightly, that a Frontier round is the one to reach for whether you would spend your afternoon plinking, target shooting, and training for law enforcement. It’s also in no way inadequate (and in fact excellent for) hunting and self-defense as well. Combined with its reasonable price, this one-size-fits-all brand is great for shooters who appreciate the opportunity to familiarize themselves with one cartridge’s performance as intimately as they can.

This 5.56x45mm cartridge features a 75 grain projectile. Its boat tail design greatly increases its ballistic coefficient to raise its accuracy, flatten its trajectory, and improve its performance in windy environments. Because the bullet is also a hollow point, it will expand to create a deep and wide wound channel in soft targets.

Frontier ammunition further offers reloadable brass casings and military grade Boxer primers and propellant. Hornady’s meticulous manufacturing process sees to it that each and every Frontier round is loaded to consistent specifications, and their quality assurance protocol ensures that they’re all flawless before exiting their factory’s doors.

Hot and accurate with minor quality issues...

Tried this out in my 26", 8 twist, 223 Wylde bolt gun and was surprised to get .55-.65" groups. Even more amazed the velocity was 2916 fps with a 34 ES. This has to be at the hot end of the load data so be sure you have a rifle that can take it. Much cheaper, faster, and just as accurate as Magtech 77gr. Only negative was several rounds had some good dents in the shoulder area, so watch out for quality issues.

It comes out of the muzzle with a velocity of 3,240 feet per second and an energy of 1,282 foot pounds. Thanks to a full metal jacket and boat tail, this round can be used for accurate target shooting and competition. With a few 20-round boxes of this ammo, you are all set for a day at the range.

This round is made by Federal Premium Ammunition, a Minnesota-based company that has top-quality rounds for a wide range of uses. They make ammo for shotguns, handguns, and almost all popular rifles.
