This round’s FMJ cannot expand inside soft tissue, although it may fragment apart at higher velocities.

You will notice that they are discolored in the areas where they were annealed, which indicates that the brass is elastic enough to return to its original dimensions after ignition. The X-TAC line from PMC more closely follows the same specifications used for manufacturing military grade ammunition. The casings are also annealed for added strength to prevent pressure-induced malfunctions and guarantee long brass life for reloaders.

That is F1 ammunition? It is just the Aussie military’s version of M855 ammo (or SS109 ammo, if you prefer European terminology). Each round in this ammo can features a FMJ bullet, which contains an additional seven grain steel penetrator tip just beneath its jacket. True to its name, the bullet’s penetrator core helps it to pierce a variety of tough media including steel plating. It’s suitable for plinking, but also appropriate for defense against lightly armored threats.

This round’s bullet weighs 62 grains. That’s a bit heavier than usual, so you’re better off choosing a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel if you want the best accuracy. (1:7 is okay, too.) The F1’s penetrator bullet does contain steel, so it is magnetic.

Australian Defense Industries loads new brass cases. The military-grade components have been heat-treated for more reliable performance in a semi-automatic firearm, which you can plainly see by the discoloration around their necks. This ammo is not old military surplus and accordingly has non-corrosive Boxer primers.

These 900 rounds are divided among four plastic bags and packaged in a new steel ammo can. The can’s tight-sealing rubber gasket is great for long-term storage, and its tough construction will protect your valuable ammo from damage while you’re moving it around.

This 5.56x45 ammo by Winchester is magnetic. That’s not because Winchester sought to cut down on production costs by implementing bimetal jackets, but rather because they manufactured these rounds according to M855 specifications!

Each cartridge sports a 62 grain penetrator bullet. Its tip is only green because it is painted, not made of polymer. That indicates the front end of its core is made of pure steel. Steel hardens the bullet’s tip substantially, giving the shooter a huge advantage when he wants to penetrate sheet metal.

Magnetic bullets are not permitted at some indoor ranges because the steel inside them could create sparks or damage range equipment.
