223 (5.56) Ammo
.223 Remington ammunition and 5.56x45 NATO are closely related and sometimes interchangeable cartridges depending on the firearm they are to be used with. Manufacturers typically offer guidance on this point. In general, the 5.56 NATO ammunition the military uses and is for sale to the civilian market operates at higher pressures than .223 Remington ammo. Most, but not all, AR-15s are chambered for 5.56 NATO and can fire both types of ammo.
Many loads in both calibers follow the M193 or M855 standard, both of which are military specifications. M193 ammo typically fires a 55 grain full metal jacket bullet at 3,240 feet per second, while M855 ammo fires a heavier 62 grain FMJ bullet at about 3,100 feet per second. These common standards are very helpful when sighting in your optics and you'll find both cartridges in-stock and available in cheap bulk packs here at Widener's
Certain specialized loads deviate from these common standards. Competition grade .223/5.56 ammo fires a heavier bullet (most commonly a Sierra MatchKing) in the 77 grain range to provide better stability and more predictable trajectories; varmint loads, on the other hand, fire light 30-40 grain bullets at very high velocities to produce lethal fragmentation against pest animals.
One of the most sought after range loads for this caliber is Lake City ammunition, which is produced by Federal Premium Ammunition at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. LCAAP production is typically excess from government contracts and is popular due to its military origins and high quality.

American Quality Ammunition 223 Rem 55 Grain FMJ – 250 Rounds

Do you really need fancy packaging in order to enjoy your 223 Rem target ammo? If your answer is “I’m a simple kind of man or lady who can make do with most any kind of packaging, as a matter of fact,” then American Quality Ammunition’s big loose-packed box of 223 Rem ammo is going to appeal to your sensibilities in a big way.
This is real target shootin’ stuff, no two ways about it. You don’t need anything more technologically sophisticated than this round’s 55 grain full metal jacket if you just want to print holes around a bullseye (or inside the bullseye, if you’re really sharp).
The FMJ has a lead core and copper-alloy jacket: the two reasons why it can’t attract a magnet. It’s also got a cannelure to keep recoil from yanking it out of the case mouth. That very same bullet is suspended in the mouth of a new brass case, atop a nest of clean-burning powder with a noncorrosive Boxer primer to set events into motion. -

PMC Bronze ammunition comes from South Korea out of some of the most sophisticated and efficient manufacturing plants. A length of experience producing ammunition for NATO countries as well as adherence to U.S. standard tolerances has resulted in inexpensive ammo with high reliability.
These cartridges are constructed using reloadable brass casings fitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers and topped by full metal jacket boat-tail (FMJ-BT) bullets. The bullets weigh in at 55 grains which is a standard across the board for the caliber and will stabilize with the widest ranges of barrel lengths and twists. In addition, the boat tail tapered rear of the bullet reduces drag and increases accuracy. This bulk pack of 1,000 rounds is great to stock up on for matches and classes and has been specifically recommended by some training companies like the United States Shooting Academy (USSA).

Ammo was nicely boxed and performed great.
-
It was low priced. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was boxed well in 20 round boxes and it looked great. Performed well too, just as all remington ammo has in the past. I like the brass, its a little heavier than other makes and reloads well.

I was looking for better accuracy than I'd found with _ _ _ _ M193 type ammo and reviews indicated the PMC was the answer. Bought a case to function test a new M-4(gery) for another shooter. This ammo is topnotch-more accurate than the carbine's owner can utilize. I just wish I'd bought two cases and kept one.

200 Rounds Fired So Far: 0 Complaints
-
The ammo came in a convenient packaging of 20 rd boxes. Convenient to load two mags of 10 rd each (in the pathetic state of CT, that's all we're allowed). No issues with the firing or ejection. Tight grouping at 25 yards after sighting in. Haven't tried 100 yards yet. No complaints

PMC Bronze is great ammo. Im on my fourth case right now, and I love it. Zero failures. With my Daniel Defense 16" Carbine and an ACOG I was effortlessly hitting 24" square steel at 500yds with 55gr! I prefer it to other ammo as most other brand 5.56 has the dirty looking annealing burn marks on the neck of the cartridge, but PMC takes the time to polish that off. It doesnt affect function of course, but it is a really nice touch. Quality ammo, buy with confidence.

Then we wish you the best of this if you haven’t got ammo: LUCK.
Want to make it rain the right way – with military-grade 223 Rem ammo made by Hornady? Then we’ll ship you 1,200 rounds of this: FRONTIER.
Hornady is most famous for making technologically advanced hunting and match bullets. They go the opposite direction when they load Frontier. These range loads are outfitted with 55 grain full metal jacket projectiles. Although well made, with uniformly heavy lead cores and nonmagnetic copper-alloy jackets, such FMJs are the simplest bullets a semi-automatic rifle can fire. Their boat tails improve the bullets’ long-range performance, as they help them hold on to more velocity and energy way downrange.
Don’t let those cases’ appearance lead you astray. Hornady Frontier ammunition is exclusively loaded with new brass. When you see discoloration, you’re only seeing where the brass was annealed (a heat treatment process which makes brass suppler, and cases more effective at sealing the chamber on ignition). This ammo’s visible annealing scars have zero impact on its performance or reloadability. -

Well, we’ve got an even better kind of frontier in our warehouse: Hornady Frontier. This 223 Rem ammo features the Nebraskan company’s high-quality bullets, and it is loaded in the heart of Missouri at the feds’ own Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.
Hornady’s full metal jacket projectile is nothing out of the ordinary – just an aerodynamic bolt of brass-jacketed lead, which hits a velocity of 3,240 fps out of a 24” barrel and doesn’t become slower than the speed of sound until about 700 yards. If you zero in at 100 yards, then the bullet’s trajectory should peak about 1/2” above the bore line before reaching the target.
This ammo’s military-grade cases aren’t reloaded. They were drawn, tapered, cut and annealed at Lake City’s own factory. The cases weren’t polished there, however, which is why the brass is darker around its neck and shoulder. No old primers here! Just the noncorrosive Boxers that’ll keep your rifle silky smooth. -

Or are you looking for 223 hunting ammo that offers fairly similar recoil and ballistic performance to M193 ball? Either way, you can stack all your chips on Armscor’s American-made ammo!
This round’s 55 grain bullet isn’t the M193’s full metal jacket, though. It’s a pointed soft point, which combines a ballistically efficient nose profile and unjacketed tip to deliver a flat trajectory that ends in lethal terminal expansion. No coyote on either side of the Mississippi is walking off a direct hit with one of these (nonmagnetic and unbonded) PSP projectiles!
We sell Armscor’s unprimed component brass quite often here at Widener’s. This ammo is loaded with the exact same shells, so you can rest assured you’ll still have good reloadables after taking it for a walk at the range or in the field. M193 spec 5.56 is perfect for learning the fundamentals of shooting, just like it's good for keeping your existing skills sharp. This is the same kind of ammo the Army issues for training and combat alike. The full metal jacket projectile has a solid point profile, so it will not expand while pushing against a soft medium. It will hit hard, however, and probably fragment apart following close-range impact.
This ammo is loaded with noncorrosive Boxer primers and clean-burning spherical propellant. Red sealant protects those primers against humidity and water. This ammo is also loaded with new, never before fired reloadable brass cases. Since they’re military-grade cases, they weren’t buffed up after they were correctly annealed at the factory. The discoloration is purely cosmetic. -

If you do indeed take a .22 cal approach to deer harvesting – or want a versatile load that you can also use to take boar and smaller critters – then Armscor has already made just what you need!
• This round’s bullet weighs 62 grains. That gives it similar (yet not identical) ballistic performance to the Army’s own M855 load, as well as added momentum for deeper penetration.
• This round’s bullet has a bonded jacket. That makes its lead core and copper-alloy jacket stronger, and accordingly capable of retaining more of their combined weight – yet another feature which promotes deeper penetration.
• This round bullet is a pointed soft point. The sleek projectile overcomes frontal air resistance quite handily, and punctuates its trajectory by dishing out broad terminal expansion.

These nonmagnetic, non-corrosive and brass-cased beauts are all your 5.56 or 223 rifle requires in order to start singing your favorite tune.
If this was a 5.56 round, then it would conform to the military's M193 specs to a T. Its 55 grain FMJ is loaded to a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps, so it’s going to deliver recoil and ballistic performance that are really familiar to any AR-15 aficionado. Winchester’s FMJ has a cannelure to prevent setback in the magazine, as well as the uniformly distributed lead core and concentric copper alloy jacket that good accuracy both hinge upon.
A lot of people take a look at this ammo’s cases and wonder if it has been previously fired and reloaded. Not so! Winchester just saved time by not polishing the brass after fortifying it via heat treatment. A supple case promotes cleaner performance by expanding to seal off the chamber during ignition, and it reliably returns to its original dimensions so it can serve well at the reloading bench. -

Each cartridge in this case of 1,000 fires a 55 grain full metal jacket bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3,265 feet per second (20” test barrel), right in line with the M193 specification.
This ammo is loaded in Brazil with non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases. CBC (which produces ammo under the Magtech, MEN and Sellier & Bellot brands) is one of the largest defense contractors in the world, and has extensive experience producing quality military grade ammunition.
This ammunition’s brass cases are brand new. The brass is only darker around the case neck because it was annealed at the factory (a process which strengthens brass) without subsequent polishing. The discoloration is purely cosmetic and will not impact performance in the slightest. -

Winchester’s USA line of ammunition is an old favorite among shooting enthusiasts all across the country. This 223 cartridge delivers essentially identical performance to the U.S. military’s 5.56 M193 load. Its 55 grain bullet is loaded to a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps, and as an FMJ it’s perfect for plinking, training and target shooting. This bullet’s jacket wears a cannelure that puts a stop to setback under recoil force, and it is completely nonmagnetic for range compliance purposes.
This reloadable ammo’s non-corrosive Boxer primers are socketed inside newly minted brass cases. You’ll notice the brass is darker around the case mouth – that’s just a harmless byproduct of the heat-treatment process Winchester uses to strengthen their cases, not the result of having been previously fired. -

So, the price of the ammo was great, delivered ahead of time by a day but, about 1 in every 75 rounds didn’t fire. Firing pin indented the round without the round firing. Thought maybe it could be a gun issue but, both of my AR’s had the same effect. When they do fire they are very accurate but, you will need to do some serious cleaning when your done. Even my nickel plated bolts were filthy after only 90 rounds. So far I have had 6 rounds that didn’t fire and I am only about halfway through the box. Not sure if I will buy the same ones in the future.

As a result, this 1000 bulk pack of 5.56mm has a few features that you won't find in usual lots of inexpensive ammo. These XP193 rounds are great for rainy day storage, high round count classes, practice sessions, fun plinking, and building a ballistic chart close to NATO-spec M193.
Like M193, these XP193 rounds feature 55 grain bullets which are compatible with the widest range of barrel lengths and twists of AR, SCAR, ACR, and other 5.56x45mm chambered rifles. The full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) projectiles feature a toothed cannelure which prevents round setback during rough handling or repeated loading and live ejection; bullet setback can affect accuracy or even cause catastrophic firearm failure. In addition, the reloadable brass casings have a consistent coat of sealant surrounding their non-corrosive Boxer primers which prevents moisture from entering the cartridge and creating dud rounds. The casings are also annealed for added strength to prevent pressure-induced malfunctions and guarantee long brass life for reloaders.
PMC ammunition is produced in South Korea on some of the same tooling and machines used to supply NATO countries with war-fighting ammo. These bulk packs are highly regarded among American shooters for their inexpensive cost, high reliability, and adherence to M193 specification.

Great range ammo. Always reliable and easy to use.
-
This PMC-X-TAC ammo is great ammo for the range and maybe beyond the range. It is of good quality and very consistent and reliable. I have been using it for some time now, and I have never had one misfire or misfeed. I highly recommend this brand. Another plus is buying from Wideners. Great, prompt, and reasonably priced shipping.

Federal Black Pack 223 Rem 55 Grain FMJ – 150 Rounds
$75.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Federal Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 150 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU FC223BF Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 604544705744 Cost Per Round 50.6¢ per round We’d all love to go target shooting with top-shelf match-grade ammunition every day. Sadly, we’re all locked into the same reality where fancy things cost $$$.
But what if you could get away with only spending $$ – or possibly even just $ – and still have yourself a grand old time at the gun range? You can! And it’s easy. Just let us deliver some Federal Black Packs to your stoop.
This is essentially the 223 Rem version of 5.56 M193. Fifty-five grain projectile? Check. Full metal jacket? Check. Muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps (with reasonable give and take) out of a 24” barrel? Check. Truly a great combination for all-day range fun!
This noncorrosive ammo’s nonmagnetic FMJs will wallop varmints without fail, and they’ll tear themselves to pieces if they strike a threat at high velocity. Even so, we’d recommend a bullet that’s more fine tuned for defense if you’re defending the castle.
And its cases? New! Brass! Reloadable! -
Winchester USA Target 223 Rem 55 Grain FMJ – 1000 Rounds

No – you actually want to fire the thing as well, which is why you need no less than one full case of Winchester’s famous white label ammo. These range loads are made in Illinois and ready to deliver the consistent performance you need for any kind of recreational target shooting. Good to have in store for an ugly situation as well!
This cartridge is equipped with a 55 grain bullet. At that weight it’s able to leave an rifle barrel at a velocity of 3,240 fps, just like the U.S. Armed Forces’ equivalent M193 round. The aerodynamic bullet achieves a 0.274 ballistic coefficient, so it won’t even have to rise by 6” when you’re aiming for the 300-yard target line!
Although this round’s bullet is capable of fragmenting apart into shrapnel as it pierces soft tissue, the non-expanding FMJ is typically favored for plinking and training. This is a steel-free bullet, so you’re A-OK to take it to ranges which prohibit magnetic ammo. The bullet’s resilient jacket resists deformation and jamming during feeding, and its full cannelure wards off setback in the magazine.
USA label ammo has new and durable brass cases. You’ll notice they’re gray around their shoulders, but that’s just the natural result of fortifying heat-treatment. These rounds’ non-corrosive Boxer primers make them repeatedly reloadable! -

You can make great use of this round’s rugged brass casing at your reloading bench, provided you’ve the means to deal with a military primer crimp. This cartridge sports a 55 grain projectile. The gilded metal jacket wrapped around its lead alloy core hardens it substantially, allowing it to prevent lead fouling and penetrate most common targets on impact. The bullet’s concentric jacket and extremely fast muzzle velocity give it a nice, flat trajectory, the sort you could depend on to hit varmint-sized targets if you so wished. -

We’d never accuse you of being a slacker, of course. Look how diligently you’re reading the product descriptions on Widener's – the mark of a real go-getter. We like your style! That’s why we’ll feel proud when we ship you 600 rounds of Winchester’s high-quality 223 Rem range ammunition.
This is just about the most vanilla 223 you could invest your hard-earned money in. It’s loaded with standard 55 grain full metal jacket projectiles: nonmagnetic, non-expanding, and perched above the clean-burning propellant charges they need to clear muzzle at a rate of 3,240 fps (20” bbl). We estimate this round’s FMJ’s G1 ballistic coefficient at 0.274, which stands for a 250-yard trajectory that climaxes around 3.5” above the bore line.
Winchester’s USA series ammo is loaded with primo reloadable cases. If you’re not accustomed to seeing military grade brass, then you may wonder if this ammo’s cases are discolored because they were previously reloaded. They were not. They just weren’t polished up for better cosmetics after they were heat-treated for added suppleness. -

How about a real emergency – the kind that only canned goods, candles, and brass-cased ammo can carry you through? So long as your firearm is chambered for 5.56x45 and you like thinking ahead, this case of ammo by Winchester is a much-needed addition to your stockpile.
This is just about the most elemental ammo you could have on hand. Each cartridge is faithfully loaded according to M193 specifications, with a full metal jacket bullet to prevent feeding issues and accelerated barrel leading. You won’t get expansion out of an FMJ, but you’ll still get the kind of terminal ballistics that prove so effective for home defense. At 55 grains this round’s bullet reliably achieves a muzzle velocity in the range of 3,180 fps. That’ll treat you to the satisfyingly flat trajectory you need to thread distant targets.
Winchester’s USA ammo features newly forged brass cases, sensitive and non-corrosive Boxer primers for reloadability, and of course clean-burning powder. Don’t look for any steel in this nonmagnetic ammo – you won’t find it!Customer Reviews

Winchester USA Target 5.56x45 55 Grain FMJ M193 – 1000 Rounds
$519.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Winchester Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 1000 Ammo Caliber 5.56x45mm Manufacturer SKU WM193K Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 50020892201885 Cost Per Round 52¢ per round Winchester’s USA label doesn’t just stand for American-made. It stands for consistent quality and satisfying target-grade accuracy that you’ll want to take with you whenever you visit the range.
Winchester manufactures their white box ammo specifically for the civilian shooter. They did load this 5.56x45 ammo to our military’s M193 specifications, however, which means it offers the same kind of performance which most veterans of the Armed Forces must already be familiar with.
This cartridge has a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. At that weight it achieves a steady 3,180 fps muzzle velocity, which will keep it traveling at supersonic speed until around 700 yards – well beyond the 5.56’s effective range. The FMJ’s hard jacket promotes positive functioning in a semi-auto courtesy of its ability to feed smoothly and prevent rapid fouling. This round’s FMJ cannot expand inside soft tissue, although it may fragment apart at higher velocities.
This ammo also sports virgin brass cases. You will notice that they are discolored in the areas where they were annealed, which indicates that the brass is elastic enough to return to its original dimensions after ignition. Alongside their non-corrosive Boxer primers, that makes this ammo’s cases perfect for handloaders. -
Winchester USA 5.56x45 55 Grain FMJ – 800 Rounds
$422.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Winchester Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 800 Ammo Caliber 5.56x45mm Manufacturer SKU WM193200 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 20892224438 Cost Per Round 52.9¢ per round Has your AR-15’s barrel been cold for way, way too long? We hate to hear it! That’s why we’ve got just the thing in store to warm it up: 800 rounds of Winchester’s American-made 5.56x45, packaged in four easy to transport boxes. If you bring all this goodness to the range, then you’d might as well pack a lunch while you’re at it!
This ammo’s all about target practice. Its 55 grain bullet and clean-burning powder grant it a muzzle velocity of 3,270 fps – extremely normal for the 5.56x45, and exactly the kind of performance semi-automatic rifles are designed to operate around. You can fall back on ammo like this for home defense should the need ever arise, and you don’t have to worry about its steel-free bullets if you patronize a range with a magnetic ammo ban in effect.
Winchester equips their standard target loads with non-corrosive Boxer primers and freshly drawn and cut brass cases. This is not factory remanufactured ammunition, nor is it military surplus. Any discoloration on its cases is the purely cosmetic result of annealing, a heat-treatment process which yields stronger, more reliable brass. -
Federal American Eagle 223 Rem 62 Grain FMJ-BT - 500 Rounds
$264.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Federal Condition New Bullet Weight 62 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail (FMJ-BT) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 500 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU AE223N Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 50029465093483 Cost Per Round 53¢ per round These .223 Remington rounds from Federal utilize many of the features that go into premium 5.56x45mm milspec rounds but without the increased cost. Each round is built using a reloadable brass casing mated to a non-corrosive Boxer primer via solid seating and primer sealant; this compound prevents moisture from penetrating through to reach the clean-burning propellant. The casings are also firmly crimped to the toothed cannelure of each bullet to prevent setback and optimize reliability.
The projectile used in this cartridge design is a non-penetrating, 62 grain full metal jacket boat tail (FMJ-BT) bullet that is not attracted to a magnet. The rear curvature of the FMJ-BT shape resists drag and is less susceptible to in-flight shift. This combines with a well-studied 62 grain weight to provide shooters with accurate and predictable ballistic performance. Federal's American Eagle line is intended to be a low-cost plinking solution that doesn't skip out on quality enhancements.

Here’s the solution: Hornady Frontier 223 Rem ammo!
Hornady is one of America’s most highly respected bullet artisans. Their projectiles are prized by handloading enthusiasts across the country – but you don’t have to be a handloader to make good use of them. Here’s your chance to appreciate Hornady’s high-quality full metal jacket in action, right out of the box!
This cartridge’s 55 grain FMJ is nonmagnetic, smooth-feeding, aerodynamic, and not much else. It’s ideal for target shooting and other scenarios where terminal expansion would provide no real advantage. An FMJ won’t deliver quite as dramatic terminal ballistics as a V-MAX or other similar polymer-tipped projectile, but it’s still plenty effective for tagging small game. Shoot that pesky porcupine before it can get to your poor, innocent dog!
This ammo is loaded by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant – same outfit that makes most of the small arms materiel for the U.S. Armed Forces. Noncorrosive Boxer primers. Factory-fresh brass cases, which weren’t polished after they were heat-treated and are therefore darker-colored around their necks and shoulders. Hornady recorded this round’s muzzle velocity and 0.243 G1 BC with a 24” test barrel.

As a result, these rounds will match ballistic tables and ballistic drop compensation (BDC) reticles commonly used with modern low power scopes. Best M855 I’ve shot
-
I’ve purchased dozens of cases of PMC XTAC M855 because they shoot great in both my 16” 1:7 spin carbine and my 20” 1;9 barrels. Also, they have EXCELLENT brass cases for reloading and last many reloads/firing cycles.
If you want to store these long term, they are sealed completely and should last for decades if stored in a clean sealed container.
BTW, when I started buying these ~10 years ago, they $.17/rnd. Save your brass even if you don’t reload yourself.Review by Pasky2112 (Posted on 8/14/2021)

Winchester USA 5.56x45 55 Grain FMJ – 600 Rounds

Use those bangs to make yourself a better marksman at the range, or just to play around with your latest build in your backyard (assuming you live in the kind of place that tolerates backyard rifle use).
Winchester’s USA series 5.56x45 ammo is rudimentary – but that doesn’t mean it’s low-quality. Each cartridge in this case is loaded with a consistent 55 grain full metal jacket projectile, and achieves the 3,180 fps muzzle velocity a rifle needs to cycle reliably and spit out flat, accurate trajectories.
The FMJ will not expand inside of soft tissue, although its tendency to fragment following high-velocity impact would spell a difficult time for any threat you were forced to neutralize with this range ammo. This is nonmagnetic ammo: Those jackets are made of copper alloy, and their cores are solid lead.
Winchester’s new production ammo is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer-primed brass cases. These are not reloaded. They are discolored around their mouths, but that’s only because Winchester does not make their military grade cases pretty by polishing them. -

Choose what countless other shooters already consider to be their tried-and-true go-to. You can never go wrong with Federal Premium American Eagle!
This is essentially M193 ammunition – i.e. the number one choice for target shooting, thanks in large part to its economical 55 grain full metal jacket bullet. That FMJ’s features? A solid lead core. A nonmagnetic copper-alloy jacket. A cannelure to prevent recoil from shifting the it around in the case mouth. A 0.246 G1 ballistic coefficient that prevents it from undergoing transonic destabilization until nearly 700 yards!
You can plainly see that this ammo’s new, reloadable brass cases were made right. They still bear a little discoloration around their necks – indication they were annealed at the factory. Like all of Federal’s high-quality American-made ammunition, these rounds’ primers and powder charges are carefully paired to promote unerring cycling, undeviating recoil, and consistent accuracy. -
Winchester USA 223 Rem 55 Grain FMJ – 150 Rounds
$83.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Winchester Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 150 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU W223150 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 20892224988 Cost Per Round 55.9¢ per round You won’t catch us complaining about getting 150 rounds of 223 Rem to a single box. That’s enough so we can spend hours meticulously lining up sniper shots, and it’s also spot on for exactly five 30-round mag dumps. Winchester USA 223 really is good for both occasions.
This is basic ammo as far as your AR-15 is concerned, and the foundation of any respectable arsenal. Each round wears a 55 grain bullet that rips out of the barrel at 3,240 fps. That’ll treat you to the flat trajectory the AR-15 is beloved for. The bullet has a full metal jacket, which keeps the lead in its core from touching the barrel and hardens the bullet to prevent deformation during ignition.
We don’t recommend the FMJ, which does not expand, for hunting. And as far as self-defense is concerned, there are better bullets for neutralizing a human-sized threat. But when such bullets are not available, you’ll find an eighth ounce of solid metal striking a target at nearly three times the speed of sound makes quite an impact whichever way you slice it.
A lot of folks look at this ammo’s brass cases and assume they’ve already been fired. But that isn’t the the situation! These military-grade cases are discolored because they’ve been annealed, which makes them more supple for better functionality. This reloadable ammo is also non-corrosive and nonmagnetic, so it offers great value, clean performance, and versatility when it comes to which indoor ranges you can train at. -

Winchester 5.56x45 62 Grain FMJ M855 – 600 Rounds

Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Winchester Condition New Bullet Weight 62 Grain Bullet Type Penetrator Use Type home defense, plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 600 Ammo Caliber 5.56x45mm Manufacturer SKU WM855150 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic Yes UPC Barcode 20892228313 Cost Per Round 56.6¢ per round When a 5.56x45 cartridge’s bullet is able to attract a magnet, that usually means it’s a cheapie from Russia. But that’s not the case with Winchester’s American-made 5.56x45 M855 ammo. This round’s bullet features a partial steel core, which enables it to reliably pass through sheet metal at ranges within 650 yards!
This round’s bullet weighs in at 62 grains, which is heavier than average for a 5.56 load. The bullet’s superior momentum confers a flatter trajectory, which is also better protected against the straying effects of crosswinds. An AR-15 or other rifle with a 1:9 or 1:8 rate of twist is ideal for a 62 grain load like this, but a faster twist won’t keep you from hitting your targets by any means.
This military-grade ammo is loaded with low-residue powder and non-corrosive Boxer primers, as well as newly produced brass cases. The reloadable brass cases weren’t polished before they were shipping out, which is why you can plainly see where they were heat-treated. -

In that spirit Hornady offers their Frontier line, a versatile line of ammunition that you can count on to perform to matter how you would choose to utilize it.
This 5.56x45mm cartridge was created according to US Military specifications at the hallowed Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which has been in near continuous operation since it first opened in 1941. It features a select and reloadable brass casing as well as a military grade propellant and Boxer primer. This round’s 55 grain Match projectile is highly accurate, and that it’s a hollow point means it sports the terminal performance you can bank on to drop varmints or other small game. Invest in these 500 rounds and enjoy seamlessly transitioning from one type of shooting to another. -

This 5.56x45 ammo was created for the latter purpose. It’s brand new, noncorrosive, and ready to rock range targets’ socks off.
You can call it LAP, SS109, F1, or M855. It’s all essentially the same thing: loaded with a 62 grain full metal jacket that contains a half-steel core. Unlike SS109 or F1, this round’s LAP bullet wears the same green paint on its tip as the M855.
What’s the point of the steel tip? LAP: light armor piercing. The bullet’s hard tip isn’t guaranteed to bore through steel plate, although it is more effective at its intended application than conventional FMJ ball.
If you’re new to M855 (or any other variant of “penetrator” ammo), please understand that it’s (A) banned at many indoor ranges, and (B) destructive to steel targets. Most folks who prefer M855 appreciate the ballistic advantages of the heavier bullet weight, such as higher resistance to wind deflection.
Can’t hate packaging like this: 10 rounds per stripper clip, 14 stripper clips per bandolier, 6 bandoliers per military-grade M2A1 steel ammo can. Set it aside indefinitely – or open it right away, even if you just want to get your hands on the included spoon. -
Hornady Frontier 223 Rem 55 Grain HP Match – 500 Rounds
$289.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Hornady Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Hollow-Point (HP) Use Type match or precision shooting, plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 500 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU FR140 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 190255711346 Cost Per Round 58¢ per round Frontier ammunition is loaded for Hornady by the U.S. government’s own Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. It’s high quality stuff – especially when Hornady arms it with their superior HP Match projectiles!
This round’s 55 grain hollow point is not designed to expand as it penetrates soft tissue. The narrow opening in its nose indicates that the bullet’s swaged lead core is perfectly form-fitted to its jacket, where it was poured into place. The HP Match’s evenly distributed core is complemented by Hornady’s signature AMP jacket, which is a virtually perfectly concentric copper shell.
This balanced bullet is also extremely aerodynamic. Its graceful secant ogive geometry gives way to a ballistically efficient boat tail. When the bullet is fired through a 24” barrel to achieve a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.254, its velocity remains at least Mach 2 until it reaches the 275-yard line!
This ammo’s uniform brass cases ensure smooth cycling through any bolt-action or semi-auto, and its matched primers and propellant serve up consistent recoil and ballistics. One 500 round case is divided among 25 boxes, so you can pass some along to your range pals (but you won’t want to). -
Federal American Eagle 223 Rem 75 Grain TMJ – 500 Rounds
$294.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Federal Condition New Bullet Weight 75 Grain Bullet Type Total Metal Jacket (TMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 500 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU AE223T75 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 50004544625618 Cost Per Round 59¢ per round Quite the handy case of AR ammo to have on hand courtesy of Federal, right here! This 223 Rem cartridge has a 75 grain bullet, which is a bit hefty for its caliber but for good reason: That weight improves its ability to resist the influence of cross and vertical winds as it makes its way far downrange.
This versatile bullet isn’t only suitable for sniping targets, either. Federal gave it a total metal jacket, which unlike an FMJ goes an additional length to cover the bullet’s base as well. That added protection prevents the ignition process from aerosolizing the lead inside the bullet, reducing the risk to your health.
An American Eagle round represents outstanding value. In addition to its nifty projectile, this cartridge gives you its high quality and reloadable brass casing, a clean burning propellant charge, and a primer that’s so sensitive it cries at the endings of romantic comedies. -

As such, these affordable .223 Remington rounds will make a great choice for feeding your custom AR, stock Mini-14, or any appropriately chambered rifle in between. Each round is put together using a reloadable brass casing that has been checked over for proper dimensions for strength. The case hosts a non-corrosive Boxer primer which sends a spark to a clean-burning measure of propellant.
Each round utilizes a 55-grain soft point projectile which is weighted to match numerous training loads for both .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm; this allows shooters to use a preestablished zero while enjoying fairly comfortable recoil while hunting. The soft point bullet has a bare lead nose which expands upon impact with a target, causing the round to flatten out its tip for calculated yawing and slight tumbling.

WOLF is one of the top brands for high-volume ammunition. They specialize in creating affordable ammo that doesn’t sacrifice quality and performance. If you own an autoloading rifle or handgun, WOLF has the ammo choices you need for a full day at the range.
The .223 Remington delivers outstanding velocities and accuracy. While other rounds can claim more energy and stopping power, few can travel as fast as the .223 Remington. Hornady Frontier 223 Rem 55 Grain FMJ – 500 Rounds
$304.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Hornady Condition New Bullet Weight 55 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 500 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU FR100 Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 10090255711261 Cost Per Round 61¢ per round If you’ve got an AR-15, then you know how quickly the little thing can gobble up ammo. Keeping it in good supply of the stuff can be a challenge -- it’s not uncommon for an AR-15 owner to feel like a mother bird that has to perpetually stick worms down its fledgling’s gullet. When you need high quality rounds, you can always bank on Hornady. The old Nebraskan master has one of the tightest quality assurance protocols that we know about, and that really shows in their products’ consistently great performance.
This 223 Rem cartridge has a 55 grain projectile. The bullet’s jacket is drawn extremely concentrically, which along with its fast 3,240 fps muzzle velocity assures a flat and accurate trajectory. This bullet’s jacket further serves to promote certain feeding through a semi-automatic, and to prevent rapid fouling within the bore as well. This round’s military grade primer and propellant both burn clean to preserve a rifle’s action, and its brand new brass casing is ready for multiple trips across the reloading bench. -
Fiocchi 223 Rem 62 Grain FMJBT – 50 Rounds
$30.85Product Type Ammo Manufacturer Fiocchi Condition New Bullet Weight 62 Grain Bullet Type Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail (FMJ-BT) Use Type plinking at the range Casing Type Brass Quantity 50 Ammo Caliber 223 Remington Manufacturer SKU 223C Primer Type Boxer Magnetic No UPC Barcode 762344706580 Cost Per Round 61.7¢ per round Do you frequent a rifle range that forbids magnetic ammunition on its premises, but still want to fire 5.56x45 M855 ammunition? Lo and behold – the perfect substitute, courtesy of Fiocchi! This Missouri-made 223 Rem range ammunition is loaded with 62 grain bullets and delivers a muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps. Those stats make this nonmagnetic ammo’s ballistic performance almost indistinguishable from that of our military’s penetrator load!
This round’s bullet is more than just nonmagnetic. As a full metal jacket boat tail it features a slightly tapered base which minimizes drag to help conserve downrange momentum, an evenly distributed jacket and core which assure satisfactory in-flight stability, and a ballistically efficient solid point profile. Don’t expect terminal expansion from an FMJBT – but don’t expect a varmint to survive an encounter with one, either.
Fiocchi fits each one of these rounds with a virgin brass case, noncorrosive Boxer primer and charge of low-residue propellant. A swell choice for any 5.56/223 rifle, semi-automatic or otherwise!Customer Reviews
